There is a difference between the ECB deciding he needs a rest and him asking for time off though.

But he then wants to miss ODIs because he doesnt enjoy them ?, i bet if the ECB said they wanted him to have a break during the World T20, he would say he doesnt need a rest.

Asking KP to rest during the WCT20 would be a strange decision. Of course he wants to miss less high profile games. That should suit the ECB too.

Its not really ridiculous to assume that KP knows more about his body and when he needs a rest as opposed to the ECB.

My disliking of KP has no relevance to this topic, if Stuart Broad was in the same position, I would criticise him too.

He was still under contract to both parties was he not, and once the ECB had removed its objections then he was bound to play wasn't he, you can't argue a contract for one side and then say he should have broken the other.

And to be frank the whole contract argument is a complete load of tosh, players have asked for and been granted permission to miss series while under contract to play them all, players regularly retire from a format or two while under contract to play them all.

And KP never said he doesnt enjoy ODIs, it was Swann who said that. KP's problem was more to do with the overkill of ODI matches and not with the format as such.

Colly and Broad at home against Bangladesh in 2010. And that was after Colly played in the IPL.

But he signed a contract last year, that said he will play in ODIs required, therefore he shouldnt be asking to miss games.

I was of the impression that since he was in the auction, he could withdraw, but even so without ECBs blessing, he couldnt play in the IPL, because their contract takes preference.

But centrally contracted players have been rested in the past. Read my previous post. So its not ridiculous for KP to ask for a rest.

Was that at either of their requests ? or did the ECB want to try new talent ??

According to the article I just read, Colly had a shoulder problem and Broad needed to go under strength and conditioning training.
