Can't imagine the mood at the Telegraph and the Daily Mail. KP is the only thing they hate more than the BBC.

Odds on KP not playing in the opening India test?

I wonder if the faintest flicker of the thought that a lesser player having similarly offended would probably never have seen the inside of an England dressing room again has penetrated Pietersen’s skull.

No doubt the ECB are aware of the double standards here, but are unlikely to be concerned when there are results, and therefore money, at stake.

Kevin will join up with the squad as soon as his Champions League commitments are complete.

Couldnt help laughing at that statement from Geoff Miller

Next year during the NZ tour can we see a similar statement?
Kevin will join up with the squad as soon as his IPL commitments are complete.

All we need now is for KP to throw away his wicket a few times (in the way we know he can). get dropped and start tweeting his displeasure to make the whole farce complete.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Ironic KP is allowed to play Champions League Twenty20 and tour India for two reasons:

KP originally retires from limited overs cricket because he was complaining of workload, yet he's playing both CLt20 and touring India with England.
Tim Bresnan unavailable to play for Yorkshire in CLt20 and is told to rest by the ECB in preparation for England's tour of India.

Not really.

Bresnan played in the World T20, KP on the other hand did not.

Of course we could make rather more pointed suggestions as to why even with the news that KP will be touring India that he is still playing, namely that the ECB really don't want to pick a fight with the BCCI, CA and CSA (well of course even more than they have already with CSA).

I think the IPL players have to play in the CL. Watson is going to be withdrawn, ABDV has been withdrawn, but all the SA/Aus players playing for Indian sides are carrying on.

I don't think this outcome is exactly KP's plan A. He has been coerced into this. I can't see there can be much argument there.

Any board can demand that their players are allowed to come home however it is not in South Africa's, Australia's or India's interest that they do.

Surely Australia don't want Hussey playing in the CL, when he could be playing whatever the Sheffield Shield is called now.

Cricket Australia own a 20% stake in the Champion's League, and the BCCI own a 60% stake in it. It's in none of the stakeholders interests to be weakening the IPL teams.
