Shut your eyes and think of England.

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

Mostly it is his negativity towards the Test game that disappoints. Yorkshire has struggled to get good crowds. Maybe that has effected his view. Other grounds are regularly full. There are problems with Tests (over rates) but losing the fifth day would probably mean nearly every exciting Test you can remember wouldn't have happened.

Losing the fifth day would mean a wash out of a day would have greater affect on the whole.

To be honest not a discussion worth even entertaining I don't think.

Next it will be T20 should be 17.4 overs each way.

Oddly enough last year's test at Headingley on Day 5 produced some great drama, even though the crowds stayed away.

That probably the most disappointed aspect of Graves comments since he purely thinking about england/Counties and not really thinking how his plans would affect other countries.
Also his point about day 5 not making any money is only true in England and to a lesser extent Australia, the other countries having 4 day test or 5 day test makes no difference what so ever since each day makes the same amount of money or cost the same amount of money and if anything Broadcasters won't be happy with days being lost to the cricket.

in England that not the case because of the stupid amount of money spent on hosting the games and day 5 is generally very costly for them since either ticket sales are bad or very cheap or not much cricket happens on Day 5.

Also has other people in Twitter have mentioned Graves isn't even offering a valid way in saving test cricket since 4 day test isn't gonna increase ticket sales, tv ratings worldwide and if anything it will lose the current fans it has.

This Idea is purely to save money the counties have to spend on International cricket, Graves should remember he is gonna be the chairman of ECB and not let his time with Yorkshire affect his decision at ICC or international level.

The next ICC meeting minutes should be interesting to read.

Maybe he wants to see many more draws, which would be the case in 4 day tests. The CC champion rarely wins more than 50% of their games.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

I don't think there is any realistic chance of Tests becoming 4 day cricket, Graves is starting to look a bit silly. His first priority should be sorting out the sham that is the ECB and improving the on field performance from England. It also couldn't hurt to have a quiet word with Cook and tell him to stop spouting nonsense.

Graves had a lot to say about the Yorkshire team when they were relegated, and a lot of people praised him for plain speaking. But if he's sounding off about the relative merit of other national teams, or aspects of the world game out of his control, he's just going to invite mockery and anger upon the ECB.

Some say that factions within the ECB hostile to him (basically Emperor Clarke and his minions) are leaking negative stories to discredit Testcutter. But the KP bomb, the dismissive comment on the mediocre West Indies, and now this, all come from interviews.

The players have a media man to tell them how to talk to the media, surely the admin have one as well.

I'd love to see Graves say Moores has ****ed us over

Not going to click on the Daily Mail. But there are two ways of looking at that. Newman doesn't have a lot of credibility/if Newman is criticising an ECB figure, how bad can things be?

Or a third, is he being loyal to Emperor Clarke?

Newman and the Sun's John Etheridge were having a dig at Graves (no pun intended) the other day on Twitter.

Newman has turned from a decent cricket journo to one who has a large chip on each shoulder.

Interesting stuff about Compton and Flower here, especially England players being expected to carry on when injured.

And the stuff about Compton getting a telling off for playing a shot while fielding in the outfield as it disrespected the senior bowlers! Hopefully he didn't drop one as his apology might not have been accepted.

Some good tweets summarising the article.
people in twitter think this is the worst article he has ever written.
NEWMAN LITERALLY HAS A GO AT KP FOR PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE CURRENT ENGLAND BATSMEN.

THIS IS THE AIM OF LITERALLY EVERY ENGLISH BATSMAN IN COUNTY CRICKET.

IT'S COLIN GRAVES' FAULT THAT ENGLAND MADE A BIG OLD ******* OF SACKING KP

Newman is some special writer since he always sound bitter in his writings, he should write a book instead of being a cricket journalist. :clap
Someone with his talents shouldn't be a cricket journalist lol.
