Virat Kolhi doesn't make the list.... he averages nearly 20 runs more, has 18 more 100's, SR is about 16 runs per 100 better, and has nearly scored as many runs as Steve despite playing less than half the matches.....

Steve Waugh was probably the worst batter in the 1999 World Cup winning team.... in a best of all list, his name being mentioned is a mockery

His brother would be a better choice, than Steve himself.

Not sure you can compare such stats to nowadays though.... would have had that handy a econ of 3.3 bowling to Sehwag, Kohli, et al?

True, but he imo was a better ODI bowler than Marshall, who wasn't really all that great in ODI's, when compared to his test exploits.

Gilly had a similar average and SR, played in arguably tougher conditions performed in big WC matches, had a longer career, did all this despite the keeping workload. Sehwag - Avg 35 SR 104

Considering that Gilly started off earlier than Sehwag and retired 5 years before him and didn't play much ODI cricket in the T20 era (Sehwag's best ODI performances came post 2008) and played majority of his cricket in conditions where the par ODI score is far lower than India, that IMO takes care of the SR difference (97 is hardly slouch anyway). Also, Sehwag never made much of an impact in World Cups unlike Gilly, surely that has to count for something too?
