Surely there are times when playing county cricket would be more advantageous than having more intensive squad training sessions. Bell on his return from his terrible time during the winter went back to Warwickshire scored a century, played for the Lions and came back rejuvenated.
Last year Broad was bowling poorly for England and went back to Notts where he took a hat-full of wickets and he returned a different bowler.
The old adage 'a change is as good as a rest' might be exactly what is needed for the England players.
