actually a misleading stat since Away stats came down due to the england tour.
before that his away stats were better than home.
I always felt Kohli would prefer quick and bouncy tracks than typical indian tracks since he does like pace to play his shots and isn't the greatest player of spin.

I would say currently England might be his bogey side/Country not sure he is the best suited to swinging and seaming conditions they were signs in NZ but he got away with it with starts and then an average boosting century.

averaged very low in the windies as well

just checked that australia series, he had 4 low scores in the first two tests and scored runs when the series was over and pressure was off

he scored a 70 odd in the second innings of the third match when india had already lost both the series and the match, then his century came on a pitch that Australia scored 600 on

dont get me wrong i think he has enormous potential, just think he is far from the finished article in the form of the game that matters

No one actually said he was a finished article in Test matches if anything he need to improve big time in Test matches he can lose his wicket at the wrong time.
I do find it ridiculous for people to call him to get dropped after one poor series away from home since people like Morgan or Bevan struggled in Test Matches just because Kohli is so good in ODI cricket.

Kohli has a good first class record and has shown signs that he can deal with pace and score runs everywhere in his ODI Career and his brief test career.
If you exclude England and his first test series in West indies he has actually been very consistent and scored lots of runs in Test Matches.

Averaging 20 against England in 8 Matches have actually brought his career average down.

Apart from that he has averaged 44 against Australia, 85 against NZ 68 against SA and 27 against West indies but that is most likely going to go up with a 3 test series in the horizon.

He has a good record in all countries apart from WI and England
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine ... pe=batting

with WI being is first tour and his debut series and would most likely improve when he goes their again.

So don't really see any good reason to drop him now just because he failed in England.
It might be hard to believe but cricket does not always revolve around England not seen any good reason why people would drop Kohli.

Not dropping him just yet is 1 thing, calls for him to be made captain are daft.

I wouldn't actually make him captain yet mainly because he has a crucial 12 months ahead of him, he need runs again in Australia and captaincy might back fire although it can also improve players.

India are in a spot of bother the contenders to replace dhoni are going through a lean phrase and giving the captaincy now won't be a wise move in their careers.

Problem is india need a new captain now but not many contenders for the job Dhoni won't be captain for long at best he will have another 7 games so either way one young player will get the job it could be now before the Australian series or after the Australian series.

thinking about it the people who were claiming kohli as a great batsmen, were the sky commentators over the first couple of tests, they had changed there tune by the end of the series though

dropping him would be silly, england were patient with ian bell for 3 or 4 years and have reaped the rewards since 2009

also why would they remove dhoni, he was the only player who showed some spine and there isnt really anyone else atm

You can't blame Sky for hyping him since he had such a brilliant 12-18 months with the bat in all formats and is india new Icon in Cricket.

Most Indian are 50/50 on Dhoni playing test cricket don't mind if he stays or if we play another keeper batsman.
But all indians feel Dhoni needs to give up on the captaincy.
Kalra wrote a good article on it
http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/conte ... 71989.html

Dhoni and Fletcher mainly survived the 8-0 Whitewash since they said the seniors will retire and the new team should do better.
They again survived the 2-1 home defeat because the new guys did well and England were the better team.
They survived the calls last winter again because the new guys did well and india miss great opportunities to win test matches.

This was Dhoni last chance to show he was a good test captain. He will resign or get sacked eventually will it be now or will it be 6 months later.
Not Sure Dhoni can add much now in his captaincy in test cricket so it might be best to give it to someone else and see if that help india perform better overseas.

who would take over though

with all of the batsmen struggling to a certain extent it would seem a bit unfair to give someone who is in a dry spell the added pressure of the captaincy when they should be concentrating on getting their batting in order

There is no other alternative. Dhoni is a proven disaster as a Test captain overseas and one good series in England doesn't make him good enough to play as a specialist batsman in Tests and his keeping has been absolutely village. I don't see how Kohli would do worse.
There were calls for Root to be made the England Test captain. What is his average away from home? When the team is in dire straits, you have to take these gambles just like South Africa did with Smith.

Dohni isn't going to stand down, and the BCCI certainly aren't going to push him. The entire discussion is moot.

As for Kohli, he has far too little control over his emotions to be a Captain. Puraja would make a significantly better choice.

I be surprised if Dhoni is still captain next year in the Test Arena.
I won't be surprised if he retires from the format so he can still play ODI for the 2019 world cup.

Samson actually kept well today.

I be surprise if he doesn't play test for india in the future.
Will surely be the long term option when Dhoni retires from test matches with Saha or Ojha being short term fixes.
