Would Symonds seriously be considered, good player that he was?

He was a game changer and always showed up to training with a couple of fish and a carton of beer.

Can't take the list seriously with out Vivian Richards.

I could put together a West Indies side of the 80's and an Australian side of the 90's/2000's that could pants these blokes.

At least he wouldn't have to turn up for this team.

They couldn't put both of Symonds and Hayden in together because Symonds would drunkenly ogle Haydo's wife..... so they left both out without deciding.

Hayden wouldn't have made it though, apart from right at the end of his career in the Windies when he suddenly turned into a beast hitter, he was often considered to bat at well under the rate required for most of his career.... in fact, without Gilchrist hitting the skin off the ball the other end, Hayden may not have played much in the ODI team.

Symonds is as good a shout as most of the all rounders though.... late order hitting of the highest order, combined with niggle bowling late in innings that was often hard to get away..... solid shout

No Mark Waugh.

Didn't he get several centuries in a row at one world cup?

Curious if they've gone on stats alone. I would also have Gower in that list.

I'd have Shane Watson ahead of Symonds.

If you take players from their era who were shoulders above the rest, then M.Waugh and Anwar are two from the 90's that deserve to be there.

Richard Hadlee is not even there. :lmao

That's done it for me. He's considered one of the greatest all rounders the sport has ever seen.

Mark Waugh also reinvented fielding to an extent perfecting the under arm throw.

Most bowlers nowadays in the 35th over would pray to bowl to Michael Bevan. The game has changed, and many of the players from these teams may struggle in nowadays cricket. A guy with a SR in the lower 70's batting in a middle order, regardless if he never got dismissed, wouldn't get picked for all but an associate side.....

Bevan was brilliant in low chases in a game where wickets mattered a lot, and a steady hand to knock the singles and the odd boundary was important..... being asked to score 10 an over regularly was out of the capacity of virtually any batsman that didn't play past 2000....
