It could have been a kindness. Why should a fatigued and injured player have to carry on sharing a hotel with a load of people he'd grown tired of. Or it could be because Swann /was/ a source of conflict?

The pages on the breakdown in 2012 are well argued, and his style has a biting sarcasm and a bitter humour that is entertaining to read. He seems happy coaching Bairstow and Root in India and the bowlers in Australia. He rarely sounds as much like he is enjoying himself as when he is coaching batting. He managed to have a decent relationship with Flower when it came down to talking about batting, but not when he had to talk about more abstract things like motivation, in team building sessions. I guess many will identify with that. Sessions like this are for the benefit of the managers. Or, as KP says, so Flower could tick a box.

He sounds most pleased with his hundred in the heat and humidity of Colombo, because of the conditions. A race against time to score as many as he could before his meter ran down.

You have to look at the effects of the book. We've seen a slight shift in attitudes from an anti KP stance in the majority of the press to a questioning of ECB. That to me is an important impact.

Would be interesting to know why he did go. Should probably have finished the series. Has KP anything to say on it? Or will that be in next years book?

Well this book is working towards that. I can't imagine he's going to be sympathetic to Swann for getting the release that KP often craved. But I reckon if KP had some news on this one, it would have been in the press by now.

Swann has written a book. He strongly criticised Kevin's captaincy in it, which KP mentions and I suspect has set the tone of KPs comments about him, if not the content.
