Rebuilding for the next World Cup.

It's difficult to know how much individual performances have suffered due to coaching malfunction. As when Flower went, maybe it'd be reasonable to let everyone have a new chance under a new coach (though that didn't happen). But, it's not clear Moores will go, though the press has turned against him. If we ignore that there may be a single cause for general rubbishness, it's hard to see why they should keep Morgan and Broad, who aren't playing well enough to justify pulling them out of the wreckage.

Morgan was fantastic when he first played for us, and is now pants. This can't be just form, as it's lasted so long.

I don't reckon you can rely on Stokes bowling ten overs Ginger. I'd get rid of a batter and move the bowlers up. It's a luxury having proper bats just swinging the bat in the last few overs. And if they are there in case you're 100-7, most games will be lost anyway. Woakes and Jordan are good enough to do their best with the rest of the tail. I think this is why people want Stokes further up the order. Batting Stokes at eight offers him no real opportunity.

My team is perhaps a batsman heavy. As for Stokes, is he any worse than Jordan?

Morgan is partly faltering because he's not (sorry about this) a 360 degree player. You can bowl at his blind spots. Like the rest I assume he's also suffered at the hands of Moores and Flower.

As I said yesterday, I think some of the stalwarts can come back. But first, I'd hope new players get a chance, and Morgan, Broad and Finn do something to offer encouragement for their return. Morgan is better off in the IPL.

the biggest worry I have is we can all probably pick 10 or 12 guys who should be given the chance in the top 7 but hardly any bowlers apart from the ones already in the squad

I take it Jimmy will concentrate on tests, if not then tell him to. Same for Bell, even if he's scored a few lately.

5/6/7 of Ali/Buttler/Stokes (in any order) means we can pick 4 batsmen and 4 bowlers, giving the team very good balance. If Root is one of the top 4 we have a 7th bowling option, and if Woakes/Willey are 8/9, we have a partnership enabler/boundary clearer too.

I'd like to see Roy in the side, one of the few players in England who can utterly destroy an attack.

Anything I say comes with a caveat that things may be different with others in charge. Fair enough, Jordan and Stokes are inconsistent as bowlers. My feeling is that they fall either side of the line of what is acceptable. Jordan needs games, he tends to do better towards the ends of series. And I don't think most who advocate for Jordan are that sure he'll make it. Just that it'd be worth looking. That the case hasn't been settled.

Stokes is essentially a batter I think, and Jordan a bowler. I don't view them as competing for the same position. Though I think Flower/Giles/Moores may have seen them as doing that.

Sorry about these terrible sentences. I'm knackered!

Saker handed his six month notice in a while ago. He won't be around much longer.

I've never heard that they are thinking of retiring. Though they have young families. Maybe they'll want to hang around for a WC in England?
