good to see pup getting all of his runs out of the way before the ashes starts, how good of him

in all seriousness this is a serious display of batting, not only because of the bradmanesque amounts of runs hes scoring but hes doing it at a very good pace

A significant moment in Clarke's career as captain, due to Punters retirement. Hussey is the only player now with more test experience than Michael Clarke. That adds to the captaincy pressure on Michael Clarke.

Err... Clarke has played 10 Tests more than Huss. Huss is older, not more experienced.

Phil Hughes comes in, but Michael Clarke may move up order

I think he should bat at 4. It will be interesting to see what he thinks is the position for him in this lineup.

Clarke is only 31. Reckon he could captain the side for a few years yet, depending on results of course.

Punter inherited a winning team with settled players. Life is tough for Clarke with so many inexperienced players apart from himself and Watson. Hussey is nearing retirement. The pace bowlers are getting injured in groups. Being a specialist batsman he has more shelf life. Yes, results will be crucial factor for his tenure as captain. However, the options for captaincy are not that good in near future even if the team doess not performs well.

Despite his prolific season, I still don't think he can play the short ball.

You have to direct it well though. He also doesn't wait that little longer before using the feet to the spinners. A candidate prone to getting stumped of spinners.

Nope, he isn't as bad as you think at short stuff and he'll back himself against spin due to confidence.

I say he still has a tendency to waft flat-footed at full/good length deliveries outside the off stump.

One other thing, I'm impressed with his intent as a skipper. For someone without a great attack at his disposal, he tries to give them their chances and enough time to take wickets. With a better attack, he might be able to afford a more conservative approach so in some ways, he has a more interesting time of it and so do the fans.
But men must know, that in this theatre of man's life it is reserved only for Gods and angels to be lookers on.

NTINI77 and GREYBLAZER

re MICHAEL CLARKE There's not many who can !!! --- Pllay the short ball that is. It looks as though he might tire after 250 the way he's playing at the momentq; I think the responsibility of the captaincy has been the making of him;

I know that as even Sunny once said no one likes playing the short ball but you need to have a method to play it. Clarke was a bit vulnerable against it but seems to have found a method to deal with it.
