:no really hope he pulls through and these sick thugs are caught!

I was under the impression that the coma was medically induced and that Ryder wasnt actually in a coma? I might be wrong, but thats the impression I got from the news stories.

Also lots of eye witness accounts also seem to be saying that Ryder was beaten up with no argument or disordering leading to it

You're right

Turns out Jesse Ryder was followed when making a trip to McDonald's, also an arrest has been made.

Absolutely senseless crime. I understand some crimes when there is a reason or a necessity or some form of duress, but for someone to just viciously attack another seemingly at random is just barbaric and I hope those guilty people get the book thrown at them

Reports in NZ say Jesse's team mates have been told he hasn't suffered any brain damage thankfully.

According to the latest Cricinfo report he has reacted to family members by giving a thumbs up and that he is now considered stable not critical :)

I'm sure all cricket fans will be hoping that he can overcome this and his other demons. If he can get back to playing regularly, his class could make a big difference to the NZ side.

There have been a couple of arrests so presumably the real story behind this should be known soon.

Maybe too early to ask but is there any chance he could play cricket again?

Hopefully this incident will make him sit up and realise how lucky he is to have the ability to play pro Cricket, if and when he makes a recovery, as it would be great to see him back.

He's able to talk as well.

Long way to go but good to see such an improvement.
