However, his efforts were overshadowed by team-mate Corey Anderson, who reached his century in a mere 36 balls - the fastest ever rate in ODI's - beating Afridi's record by 1 delivery. He carried on for another five deliveries and ended up with 131 n.o.
A very good effort by the pair of them, no doubt, but it needs to be looked at in the view of where it was - Queenstown. I lived in Queenstown for a short while and never knew they had a cricket ground, finding enough flat space to fit one in would have been a big ask. The footage I saw of the innings did have the ground looking miniscule.
This can be backed up by the whole NZ score: in a rain-shortened game, each side had a maximum of 21 overs and the Kiwis managed 4/283 - a mere 13.5 runs per over!
2nd. He scored a duck in the first game. But yeah, a great story. So happy for him. Corey Anderson has probably earned himself a million dollar IPL contract too. Mumbai Indians jersey is waiting.
Fantastic batting from the two.
