I've listened to some of this for the first time, and it can be like listening to a couple of blokes talking in a shed. With similar atmospherics. I find the idea that there might be a few hundred in the ground, but it's still broadcast around the country, quite endearing. Proper public service broadcasting.

5LSX coverage of the County Championship is a fantastic addition to national radio, especially for those that cannot listen online at work

Kevin Howells has been hosting from a particular game, and the commentary appears (admittedly to my untrained ear) to be a combination of the home and away local BBC radio online commentators plus Kevin. If rain has stopped play or a match has finished early the coverage has switched to another match, which I assume has just been a direct feed from the online commentary.

Some sessions have been interrupted to provide commentary on other events (I have definitely heard F1 practice and Giro d'Italia) but the coverage details have been regularly announced during the programmes.

Overall top drawer :clap
Sports broadcasting media nut miscast as a hard-working family man. Or should that be the other way around?

Really wonderful listening to Coney talking about the NZ win against the WI in the early 80s, and the controversies of the series.

The mildly controversial ( :o ) Aggers' column was amusing.

Don't know if I mentioned it but I saw a good biographical doc of Warne on Sky the other day. Well it was interesting but standard. A filler show.

The Ashes taster as above, was really good. Though it sounds like it's going to be terrible.

Most have a sporting event in their playing life where they are successful, and you relive it for years afterwards, and whenever you meet the people in the team. For me it was a University inter-faculty league and cup win... How extraordinary if your moment was the 2005 Ashes.

They gradually get carried away on the euphoria of the memory. Which is lovely, rather than cringeworthy. Harmi is nervous as always, but fine. Hoggard, Flintoff and Jones really articulate.

Some good stuff on the qualities of Vaughan as captain.

Recommended for England fans.

Gower defended his 'Australia has no culture' slur on yesterday's commentary by saying some people have very thin skin.

So if you get offended when someone says your country is rubbish, then it's your fault.

Michael Atherton, Michael Holding, Nasser Hussain, Shane Warne, David Lloyd, Pommie Mbangwa, Ramiz Raja, Russell Arnold, Sanjay Manjrekar, Simon Doull, Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar, Tom Moody, Wasim Akram, Alan Wilkins and Harsha Bhogle.

The usual world-pudding ICC coverage. Like a seventies sitcom with the same number of laughs.

I don't think I can take Holding's moaning much more. With Holding, Knight and Botham on Sky, and their constant mithering, I've asked the other people in the house to put me on suicide watch.

I usually like Warne but he drove me bonkers today - then they all jumped on the same bandwagon and got it wrong.
