Vince feels like the cricketing equivalent of people buying me one of those "scratch maps" for Christmas every year..... I know exactly what it is, and I know I am going to be disappointed.

Last test innings Vince scored was 81 in the 2nd New Zealand test, far more technically sound compared to Stoneman who survived at least two LBW shouts and got dropped twice en-route to a half century in the same innings.

Don't think Vince has had a fair crack compared to other players, often vulnerable for the chop after a few innings. Would rather bat him at 5 than Olllie Pope.

Id probably have dropped Stoneman first, and gave Vince another test for the aforementioned reason. But I got a feeling we knew what Vince was capable of enough.

Looks like Ian Bell has spotted a space in the England middle order.

Sorry.

Had a quick scan in the comments for battingforbell, but couldn't see anything. Must be out in space.

Pleased he’s enjoying his cricket again after his first winter break in about twenty years. Surprised it made the front page of the BBC website.

So the squad to go to Sri Lanka.
Last time drawn series. Only Cook, Broad and Anderson left.
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine ... ype=series

1 Cook
2 Root
3 Stokes
4 Bairstow
5 Burns
6 Pope
7 Buttler

Fast Bowers - Anderson, Broad, Curran, Tongue
Spinners - Rashid Leach Bess Parkinson

Ali 52.27 and Woakes 61.77 left behind because of their overseas records

I am sure Woakes will go as James Taylor is his best friend and Vince because both selectors/captain/coach like him. It wouldn't even surprise me if Jennings was still in the team.

Quite a long gap since the last tour. The team will be much weaker than last time.

Can't really drop Cook for a tour of Asia, his best continent.

At 4 :strop

And if he's good enough to play in the team, and is a WK, then he keeps too!

Loathe as I am to get Buttler in the test side, he would likely be a better 6 (with the gloves) than an unproven Foakes...

Madness! Who is reporting that AC? An article I'd like to read for sure.
