There may be troubles ahead: England selection issues.

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

I see that in recent days, its gone unnoticed, but Bayliss apparently came out and said Foakes was pretty much done because the team couldnt have three keepers in it. Foakes was man of the series in one of his two series in the team, and is by far the best gloveman. Classic face doesnt fit rubbish. I wonder how many teams with a batting line up with ours would drop a guy with a test average of 40, who is also a superb keeper.

Its ok to play a front line spinner with a FC average of 40 in tandem with someone who retired from FC cricket, but god forbid a guy with one of the best bat averages around get into a team with two other wicket keepers.

Its not like England have picked 7 all rounders for the last 4 years, is it.

Makes perfect sense to change the policy on the person with the second best bat average currently available, and who was the player of the series in our last series win.

I think it should be Foakes rather than Buttler in the team. They have played the exact same number of f/c matches.

95 matches 33.04 5 100s 29 50s - 184/2st - Buttler
95 matches 40.70 9 100s 25 50s - 184/17st - Foakes

If England want to have a look at someone, perhaps a spinner to challenge Moeen Ali's place.

Mail
David Willey has become the first of England's close-knit white-ball side to break rank and question plans to fast-track Jofra Archer into this summer's one-day series against Pakistan and quite probably the World Cup.

'It's an interesting dilemma for the captain, coaches and selectors,' said Willey ahead of Friday's second Twenty20 international. 'We have a group of players who have been together for three or four years now and have got us to No 1 in the rankings.

'There's a reason for that. Whether someone should just walk in at the drop of a hat because they're available, whether that's the right thing I don't know.

I agree completely with Willey. I am sure the others fast bowlers must be thinking the same.

In the Big Bash I would say Curran did better than Archer and Curran seems to be on the edge of selection with Willey. 1st choice Woakes Wood Plunkett Stokes

Although, at the same time, dropping Archer's name into the mix might help to concentrate the minds of the bowlers who thought their positions were secure

Archer has barely played any 50 over cricket in his career...has made his name in t20 cricket...had this been t20 world cup coming up then fair enough would get him in....but think it's harsh on other bowlers to drop one now for Archer....he dosent make this world cup if i was a selector

Agree with you. People talking up Jordan for the WC. That also wouldn't feel right.

I think WIlley has improved a bit since he first came in. Not sure he has the confidence of the captain though.

Need Dave Willey for his left arm variation, more so when playing under overcast conditions.

If Chris Jordan is amongst the wickets in the Royal London Cup, at least any selection is justified. Nasser Hussain constantly promoting Archer at every given opportunity needs to stop, because it is clearly affecting the current bowling unit as Willey has publicly come out about it. England's best chance of winning the World Cup and there are ex-player pundits doing their best to plant seeds of doubt with the current bowling unit by promoting a player on a whim.
