True about Ballance, but last night you posted that (I think) that England were looking at Lions players to come in to the batting spot for Sydney, which suggests bypassing Ballance.

Our bowling seems to be

1 Anderson
2 Broad
3 Stokes
4 Roland-Jones
5 Woakes
6 Wood
7 Finn
8 Overton
9 Curran
10 Ball

Waiting in the wings

Tongue
Porter
Stone
Topley
Helm
Scrimshaw
Barber
Garton
Walter
Chappell

Archer - probably the best of the lot. Next Ashes in Australia could see Archer Tongue Stone and Topley. 3 of them are tall and 3 of them bowl at 90mph. Four years in county cricket could see their speeds go down. Anderson, Broad and Finn started off as 90mph bowlers at 20 and 21 years of age.

Archer cant play for England till 2023, so he wont be taking part in the next away Ashes. has to complete a 7 year period of residency, I think hed be 28 or 29. Id imagine at some stage he will accept an international call up for the Windies and play there, rather than wait ages playing for Sussex. Stone and Tongue are also very injury prone arent they? One had a huge back injury and the other has torn an ACL. Wonder how long either can stay fit enough to effect the speed gun for long. And Topley and his Essex colleague are anything but express pace, which England seem to really want to move to. Neither know what a bat is, let alone can use it, which is another cross in the usual box for their international careers.

Id think Overton and Curran will get the chances for the next 2 years as Broad and Anderson gradually fade out, and a fit TRJ occupies another spot.

jake Ball can go back to county cricket mind. He looks very distant from an international class bowler, not sure how hes got there. I think he got picked after 50 odd first class wickets too, which tells a story. Bit of a flash in a pan, selectors jump on it, but anyone who sees him bowl will know he isnt good enough.

I think Ball was a Flower spot. From when the ECB journalists were flogging him as a grass roots supercoach. But. Ball has done ok in ODIs.

Econ of 6.3 and average of 42 tells very different story.

Not sure he has done ok, he goes well over 6 an over, and has a horrendous wicket average.

Jofra's fielding is way below average. From what i have watched his fielding is even worse than some of the associate as well as minnow team players. He struggles to take high catches.

If Monty was dropped for fielding, no way Jofra will kept in England team. Monty at least took a relatively higher number of successful catches.

Jofra's bowling is good though in shorter format. Nice pace and he will hurry up the batters for sure. His consistency over line and length cannot be commented upon by watching short spells in T20 though.

Fisher hasn't been selected for any Lions tours or Pace squads yet that I know of.

So when Anderson goes who will open the bowling, I would like to see Broad, Roland-Jones, Tongue and Stokes. Tongue (20) 6'4 90mph
2017 47 wickets at 25.79
Career 15 matches 51 wickets at 24.72

1 Cook
2 Hameed
3 Malan
4 Root
5 Stokes
6 Livingstone
7 Bairstow
8 Roland-Jones
9 Broad
10 Tongue
11 Bess
