Maybe Overton and Curran may figure, being in the Lions team. Or Finn, who was in India.

with all the injuries to bowlers none of the guys playing for the Lions are really making the most of a possible opening

the selectors seem to like him tho

definite starter, I reckon.

Hameed playing himself further out of contention with every innings.

Cook and Jennings.... Stoneman won't figure at all

besides.... Stoneman has never been good enough to be more than a county pro. Borthwick would be the better option if they needed a number 3

his name came up a bit over the last couple of years and he is having another good year, averaging 60+ in FC cricket

If England have a new number 2 and are short of a number 3, it strikes me as odd that they'd be looking at another number 2 for the number 3 slot, when there is a perfectly good number 3 with test match potential sitting right next to the number 2 that they are looking at for the number 3 slot :hmmm :panic

Sounds so like a plot line from 'Soap' that you may be right...........after all, they still think Borthwick is a leg spinner who can bat a bit, when he has been a 1000 runs a season number 3 who almost never bowls, for the last 4 years.
