Hameed has played a couple of decent innings in the last few games. If he could grab a ton or two in the four remaining innings he has then it would be hard to justify not taking him.

Jennings test average is pretty similar to hameeds current season performance, so not sure where you base that on. Stonemans test average is better, as is Robson's. Lyths is only 1-2 runs away.

Hameed is a longer term project, and possibly a better player than those, but the idea of taking him away to Australia after his year of tailend production is only going to achieve his personal career annihilation.

He comes back next year and puts runs on the board, he's in there. You can't consider him on how he's playing currently.

Zak too . LBW or bowled.

Have a sneaky suspicion that Hameed will be named in Ashes squad, with Stoneman batting 3

Hameed has broken his finger again, so that's him out one would assume.

it might be the best thing for him. Often players not involved in a complete kicking end up looking like better players

Should have healed by the time England leave.

More that he's not going to have anymore innings this season, and he's only just started showing any sort of form this season.

Also think how long it took to find any form after the last injury.

I read that the Ashes squad will be announced on Wednesday.

Even hameed scoring runs last dig would have been fairly non indicative of a wider picture of poor form. I think it won't harm or help his chances either way. They back him regardless of form or not

Hameed was coming back to his best says Scott Reid who has seen him all season. Changed his guard.

So fast bowlers to Australia
Main party - Anderson Broad Woakes Stokes Finn Ball
Lions - Wood Porter Curran Overton Helm Garton (the selectors seem to love him)

Wood is supposed to play in the match v Worcs. Pictured today bowling off a few paces. Hopefully he will be ready by Monday. Hasn't played enough to get in the main party but who knows how England think. He might even play the 1st Test.

3 warm up games in Aus. Bayliss to decide which bowlers play in which games. See 4 main fast bowlers playing in day/night game, maybe Perth as well.
4 day Perth
4 d/n Adelaide
4 day Townsville

Last time in warm ups
Stokes 14 overs
Anderson 30
Tremlett 37
Broad 50
Rankin 73 (1 Test)
Finn 81.3 (Finn played in 0 Tests out there)

That doesn't sound good, having a pain killing injection to be able to play a 4 day game. Surely he is doing more damage.

Interesting about who bowled most the warm ups last time!

Maybe the warm ups were an extended bowl off for the last bowling spot.
