Hopefully this is the team

1 Cook
2 Stoneman
3 Livingstone
4 Root
5 Malan
6 Bairstow
7 Foakes
8 Overton
9 Wood
10 Broad
11 Anderson

Malan, Livingstone and Root to share the spinners role.

I'd swap Root and LL.

Probably play Mo or Crane as well instead of Foakes.

Not convinced that Wood is worth picking after an injury in the middle of winter. He needs to prove himself fit and good enough at a lower level over a few games.

I'd have taken a specialist SLA or OB as well.

Would not entirely rule out England fielding two spinner in a test considering New Zealand has experienced unseasonably dry weather in the past two months. That said some welcome rainfall has arrived in the past week.

The ECB have done Yorkshire a favour in omitting Ballance, means he will be involved in Yorkshire's pre seasoj throughout and a cert to start in the opener against Essex.

Mo shoulldn't go if injured, as he it seems he was in Australia. But his long term form is good, so I think suggestions that his retention is idiotic, which appear on other sites, are wide of the mark.

Not sure why Wood is going, even before the injury he flattered to deceive even if there was hints of a higher player that came through in some spells; since his injuries, he hasnt done anything and has looked a player cutting a rather underwhelming figure. Tom Curran, the long term project, has been binned which seems harsh and reactive if Ball went into a few squads. Livingstone is a good pick, but Id have liked to see one more new batter in the squad, and one of Vince/Stoneman being replaced, Vince the more likely candidate.

I take it Ballance is over now.

good econ from Plunkett. Is he the main ODI seamer now? He certainly seems to be the most reliable

I think so, it took a long time. Especially since Woakes is out.

Woakes was the most economical of the pace bowlers, very slightly ahead of Plunkett. By 0.03.

Only a matter of time when England tour Sri Lanka and West Indies next winter. Surely a wicket taking slow left arm bowler will be a threat to any side.

Kiwis playing two spinners tonight again.
