He's the ODI batting coach, so must be on the road already at some point.

Where do I apply for ENG batting coach job? I promise I won't encourage whistling when you get out or trying to change the game!

For the benefit of anybody else who only read the bits of the statements that match their own view of the world: it was Moores' decision to remove Gooch as batting coach, but he, quite rightly, discussed it with the captain first, who agreed with him. Cook, who has been coached and mentored by Gooch all his career then rang him to break the news and to explain why he'd agreed. Gooch then issued a statement saying he was sad to be leaving but respected both the decision, Moores' right to make it and Cook's professionalism.

In short, everybody did something they were entitled to do in a calm, professional and, dare I say, adult way from which they've all emerged with some dignity. And yet some of us are still desperate for conspiracies, back-stabbings and cover ups. Shouldn't be surprised really.

A rather childish statement that maybe says a lot about Kevin Pietersen. But perhaps not in the way he'd have wanted it to.

It reminds me of the days when the Tories would spin a story to try and make John Major look like a tough politician.

It feels like the ECB have shot themselves in yet another foot. Cook finding other people to blame, and sack, just emphasises how he has managed to keep his own place as captain, in spite of a pretty terrible winter, and yet he is willing to make tough decisions regarding others. Cook would have been better not to be associated with this story. Glad to hear that he at least didn't make the decision.

KP would be better regarded if he didn't respond. But I understand why he is tempted, and the comment is fairly lighthearted.

Actually, the article I read does say it was Cook's decision.
