Spinners should not be allowed any flex at all, they don't have the excuse that fast bowlers do.

I agree that spinners should be permitted no flex at all and should play by the laws of the game, not in direct contravention of them.

The "flexing" of fast bowlers' arms is just another myth promoted by the ICC to help them preserve their empire.

Look, I love Murali, he's a great guy but the problem he had with his arm has opened a loophole that spinners without this "defect" (sorry couldn't think of another word) can use to really push the laws of the game. Why are modern spinner who can fully straighten their arms allowed to bowl with bent arms? It's just crazy.

I think you will find that it was a misprint and he has been appointed Australian baseballs pitching coach. :thumb

Yeah the ICC handled it all very poorly. It's one thing to change the rules of the game, but when you change the physical way it is played then it is no longer the same game. Funny thing is in test cricket it doesn't seem to have stopped the flow of runs. I guess bats have gotten bigger, and pitches have gotten easier to bat on so perhaps they felt they had o even things up a little.

Never agreed with their decision, but I can't see it going back to a straight arm.

I see Sananayake is playing for SL today, the Welsh must have cleared his action.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Good riddance to Senenayake. Easily the worst of all the chuckers around.

Good to know that chuckers can be removed from the game. Excellent news, and I'm pleased for SL that they won't continue to impose him on opposition teams.

Most people agree that umpires can't tell the difference between 15 and 16 degrees of flex in real time. Here we have a bowler who is bowling at three times the limit, even when he is deliberately trying to alter his action, and yet he has not been no balled on the field of play. That is a little bit worrying.

How about the problem that SL thought he was alright to bowl, and actually defended him?

They have a history of being in denial about their players and have not been slow to accuse the accusers of racism when it suits them. That accusation often frightens people off.
