Capaticy not at all impressive today. Jadeja has bowled only 1 over in 38 overs on a turning track with very low bounce. That is very tough to understand. It is a blunder.

probably been the worst day I seen from an india captain since Dhoni was in charge during 2011 in lords.

Never seen a Indian captain handle spinners so badly.
Great batsman than Saurav but then Saurav knew what works in India. Team combo of Saurav and handling of spinners was far superior in India at least.

Bowling spin more wouldn't have made it any better considering in reality facing spin was more easier today especially if Ashwin was bowling.
issue was that Ashwin didn't bowl well and Kohli bowling changes were awful in that he never really had the right 2 bowlers at the right time.
it will have to be seen if Kohli captaincy cost india the game and the series.

Rahane was tactically miles better than Kohli in the final Test. Just that Kohli seems to be a motivator who drives this relatively young side to success. In terms of tactical nous, he has a long way to go.

India tour of SA - 2018

1. Ignoring the practice match. Even those players who would have wanted to bat and ball to adapt better in SA, must be felt let down by captain. But they can't say a word sadly. The warmup for Team India in SA is supposed to be useless, isn't it ?

2. Selection in first test versus SA was huge concern. Dhawan and Rohit over Rahul and Ajinkya .

Does Virat have final say on selection of the team?

Yes. Actually disputes between him and Jumble were reported in selection of Kuldeep Yadav and Karun Nair during test series against Australia. It was said that player management agencies are also affecting the selections. Dhoni too was criticised for his share in player management entity at one point of time. There are business reasons apart from cricketing skills to some of the selection mess.

Welcome.

It is going to be a strong test for Virat's captaincy. His captaincy was not that brilliant even in home conditions. If he continues to perform badly as a captain like first test, then it will only create more problems for him.

Blunders continue with team selection for 2nd test as well.

1. In-form Bhuvi dropped for Ishant. Bhuvi is a better bowler, batsman and fielder than Ishant at this point of time.
2. Rohit Sharma still preferred over Ajinkya.
3. Saha dropped fro Parthiv is also ridiculous. Saha is the best keeper we have for pacers in country. Took 10 catches in last test, no dropped chances. His one dropped catch can prove to be more costly than the few more runs he will score than Saha. The top 6 SA batters might convert dropped catch into a big ton,

Saha not been dropped, injured Adi.

The only reason he will be kept captain is because he is usually injury free, a specialist batsman and a great one at that, a certain starter.

Any other player making blunders would have found difficult to remain as captain for tour of England.
