Would that mean only England(and Wales, at a pinch)-born cricketers would be eligible for selection?

No. The rest can play unless they are non-UK Europeans.

Not given enough time he said. Too much I say. Still have Cook though and joined by his mentor Strauss. Another seat for the Tories.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Surprised the ECB have gone ahead with the Moores sacking.

Professional team sport is a results business, but how much is Moores responsible for?

The timing of Alastair Cook's sacking as ODI captain.
Playing batsmen out of position - Hales in Sri Lanka, Ballance & Taylor in World Cup, Trott in West Indies.
Recalling a unfit Moeen Ali for the 2nd and 3rd West Indies, effectively making the selection of Adil Rashid pointless and disfiguring the England line up.

It's a combination of these things which have contributed to England's decline. Somehow I don't think Moores is entirely responsible for these and the ECB haven't even got to the root of the problem.

No chance, he's settled at Yorkshire and wants to stay there for the forseeable future.

Today, Peter is kicking the sh1t out of his laptop, including stamping up and down on it, and tomorrow he plans to gnaw on his own liver at the sheer injustice of being sacked, despite being the outstanding coach of his generation and doing absolutely nothing wrong....... at all........ ever.

Isn't it a case of, if Moores wasn't making these decisions, then why not? He's in charge of selection on tour, and he's a selector at home. He gets credited with things that go right (Moeen, Ballance at three). I think Cook should be held responsible for what happens on the field though.

I can now put an ad in the paper -

FOR SALE-

One Outrage Bus and a selection of axes.

Reason for sale - English cricket finally seems to be getting its house in order and I've got a feeling everything's going to be all right.

I don't think the removal of Moores will solve anything. England are struggling to produce a team that can compete with the best, or even the middle as we've seen over the last year, simply changing one face is not going to rectify that.

We don't have the transparancy required to actually know what is going on at the ECB. How much say did Moores have in keeping Cook as ODI captain for example, was he solely responcible for changing the ODI team on the eve of the World Cup? etc.

England have not done well under him, but how much of that can actually be placed at his door?

After you've washed the blood off your hands , of course :)

Seriously hope you are right about getting the house in order ; but I fear there are a few more things to worry about than just getting rid of a coach who was generally seen to be incapable of taking the team forward. Finding a suitable replacement for a start ...
