So what happened with Gillespie?

I'm starting to imagine Eric Idle writing a song entitled "Every face has to fit with the ECB".

I wonder if Gillespie said he'd only accept if he was allowed to pick KP.

He took coaching of some Big bash team and the team won the Big Bash in that season. Then he took over as KKR coaching and KKR won the IPL. So he has managed to turnaround the results for the teams.

didn't ECB say their wanted the next coach to be an international player.
Trevor Baylis doesn't fulfil that requirement.

Trevor baylis is a good coach though and his success at Limited over competition is the reason why he got the job.

Feel weird still seeing England thinking about the 2019 world cup though, ECB seem to really want to do well in that trophy.

If I am gonna be critical of Trevor baylis it will be about his Test or F/C credential not sure he been a great coach in that format.

Bayliss is earning crazy money though 300K a year not sure that money well spent considering if he does get sacked or leaves the next coach will want a similar wage.

Although guessing ECB were panicking a bit because Gillespie didn't want a full time job and Strauss wanted a full time coach, Trevor baylis was probably the only real stand out coach that actually applied for the job.
Would have been embarrassing if they went to some English county coach after sacking moores and saying their wanted a big name to take over, or if no big name wanted the job.
Although wouldn't class Bayliss as a big name.

Sounds like Bayliss or his family did it since couple of quotes have said Bayliss couldn't believe the offer.
Then again getting paid 300K a year is crazy money if true.
