Yes still doesn't get deserved recognition. Print the myth.

Prior did better as a batter while keeping of course. Alec the better batter when unencumbered.

In his early England career, I thought MP was just awful; a terrible keeper; but there was a period, when England were riding high, when MP turned himself first into a competent keeper, and then a pretty good one, and for that time he was a real asset to England. I'm trying to think how long for..... maybe 3 years?

Many players have worse England careers than Matt Prior, but I'm not sure that I'll miss him, tbh.

I doubt you've seen Freaks (1932), but seeing as it was reissued for cinemas this week, I'll point out the famous 'one of us' chant from the film.

The nature of the way one of our most successful Test teams has broken up has rather overshadowed a lot careers, Prior included.

None of them have retired from or left international cricket with any kind of recognisable onfield salute.

Decent batsman, average keeper, poor pundit.

Just to add my appreciation of Prior for playing a key part in the most successful England team for several decades...a fine number seven bat who made himself into a damn good keeper as well through determination and hard work :clap

Sorry he had to drift out of the game as injury gradually did for him ; but they can't all go out on top.

And nice to see he and KP appear to have made some step towards burying the hatchet.
