Left handed XI

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

Left handed XI

Postby Gingerfinch » Mon Aug 17, 2015 4:33 pm

TMS have selected a left handed XI, to celebrate nation left handed day, and here it is.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/33910167

The selection of Rolton is a politically correct surprise.

For what it's worth, here's mine.

Hayden
Morris
Sangakkara
Lara
Pollock
Sobers
Gilchrist
Akram
Davidson
Vaas
Underwood

Graeme Swann would enjoy playing against those teams.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

No Harvey? Is that supposed to provoke a reaction? Not from me good Sir, when one of England's and more importantly the Red Roses' greatest batsmen doesn't warrent a mention in any list.

Australian test team i have watched.

Hayden
Taylor
Katich
Border
Langer
Lehman
Gilchrist
Mitch Johnson
Mitchel Starc
Doug Bollinger
Bruce Reid

All rounder and spinning duties to be done by Lehman and Border. Very good batting line up that could be moved around, but after Reid and MJ the bowling might be a little light. Bowling line up would do well against the 80's windies teams. Seem to remember them not being to fond of left armers.......

Also looking at the BBC list, how did MJ and Vass get in ahead of Alan Davidson?

Think Morris is in gingers team, not the BBC team. I guess the BBC team is covering all forms of cricket. And also trying to be relevant to the modern day fans.

Who from the Red Roses could replace Harvey at number 3 in a world 11 of left handers?

Bernard Julien, Mike Whitney.

Ray Bright.

You could reclaim Alan Mullally.

You can keep Mullally. Bracken maybe, in the shorter game perhaps. Whitney if playing WI, yes i think so. Julien just didn't live up to the hype.

Border was probably Australias best left arm spinner in the last 30 years.....

I'd probably go with;

Matt Hayden
Dave Warner
Justin Langer
Mike Hussey
Allan Border (c)
Adam Gilchrist
James Faulkner
Steve O'Keefe
Mitchell Johnson
Mitchell Starc
Bruce Reid

Eddie Paynter, naturally.

I don't think either would make it past Pollock, Lara or Sangakkara for a place in the top five mind. With Flower or Border at six and Sobers at seven.

Then it's simply a toss up between whether you play a proper gloveman in Marsh or 4 bowlers.
