And his record on the bouncy pitches of Australia is extraordinary. Admittedly, not against the 1980s West Indians.

11 hundreds were scored in those two tests. The Aussies provided tame pitches to nullify the Saffers pace attack, and at Brisbane (which was very flat) the first innings was still taking place on the PM of day 5. At Adelaide, the pitch was so slow, Faf Du Plessis sat there for an eternity blocking at the end. The third test at Perth had something in it, and South Africa steam rolled the Aussies by an innings, Clarke not really making anything.

Away from home against South Africa, Clarke has poor records at every ground apart from Newlands, which is well known for being the slowest of South Africa's grounds, and also statistically by far the easiest to score on.

I's usually Flower or Gilchrist, but definitely a good idea to have both.

I'd have Border instead of Chanderpaul or Flower, though I may go back further than you?

Border's playing days were before my time.

Based on what I've seen over the years, and of course the inevitable rose tinted spectacles.

Bill Lawry
Graeme Smith
Brian Lara
Graeme Pollock
Allan Border (C)
Garfied Sobers
Rod Marsh (WK)
Alan Davidson
Wasim Akram
Derick Underwood
Bruce Reid

With that batting line up, plus the fact that Davidson and Akram were no mugs with the bat, went for the gloveman Marsh over the batsmen in Gilchrist, Flower and Sangakarra.

Was tough to chose between Deadly and Tony Lock, went with Deadly simply because I saw his entire career, and I have a feeling that Deadly did better away from home than Lock.

If I were the wrong side of 90, he would be the first name on the team sheet, Ginger.

A fabulous player for us and for the West Indies. However even with my most partisan hat on, I don't think I could justify getting him to a side the like of Sangakkara and Flower can't make the cut for.

Smith
Trescothick
Lara
Border/Ganguly
Morgan
Flower
Shakib Al Hasan
Vettori
Vaas
Wasim Akram
Bedi/Johnson

Either/ors depend on conditions.
I always say that everybody's right.
