Some will think me bereft of senses because I've included three spinners in Asia!

Could have had Zaheer Khan as a bowler and kept Border as a bat. Can't think of many Indian LH bats. Gambhir. Yuvraj. Kambli, going back.

I had him in my all countries side, so I didn't mention him, but for a nation where batters are legends, surprisingly few great lefties.

probably because batting is so much harder being a left hander in the 2nd innings.

Cannot criticise your XI, if I'm being honest, Arthur. Could have had Anwar, but then no Akram. Gilchrist? But then no Flower.

My England XI (in Asia)

Trescothick
Strauss
Cook
Gower
Thorpe
Russell
Giles
Edmonds
Sidebottom
Mullally
Tufnell

Just about. He may have sneaked in, if I had seen him play ;)

He played for Essex for some time after England stopped picking him. Unfortunate to be up against the best England seam options until 2005.

Does he bring his own vaseline or do you have to provide that for him?

No Underwood???? Best English left armer of all time probably. He also got Gavaskar out 12 times.

John Edrich is certainly worth a look as opener.

Sorry it's my age...

This XI is picked from what I've seen, kipper. Deadly Derek would have been in, if I was a tad older. Edrich may have struggled to get in my team.
