Number one with Durham Town I think. Looked incongruous on TOTP in the seventies. He was getting on a bit then, so he must have had a good knock.

A fantastic singer and whistler, imo. Great voice.

Not always into his choice of music. My mum would play him a bit. Listening to Durham Town now.

RIP. Best known to me in strong support roles in a few British classics, like The Long and the Short and the Tall and Hell Drivers. The Great Escape. Had a more prominent lead with Stanley Baker in Violent Playground (which also featured a young Freddie Starr).

He was in his thirties when he did Man from UNCLE. So no spring chicken.

Yes. Sapphire and Steel seems to be a cult thing, but I never saw it. I quite like UNCLE. Very sixties.

'Harry Potter' actor Michael Gambon, of course, as is the norm these days. A lazy headline which completely ignores an enormous body of work on film, TV and stage, but I've griped about this before and will doubtless gripe about it again

famously had a Top Gear race track corner named after him, which I have always assumed was so named because he drove around it very slowly and carefully (I've hardly ever watched the show).... but no! Seemingly he took the corner so fast that he went around it on two wheels.

Actor Piper Laurie dies aged 91. Famous for co-starring with Paul Newman in The Hustler which got her an Oscar nomination. Also nominated in supporting roles for Carrie and Children of a Lesser God.

Starred in hit Aussie film Tim, with Mel Gibson.

Featured in a film with Walter Matthau which led to the often stated comment in interviews by Jack Lemmon if Matthau uttered an oath-' and with the same lips you kissed Piper Laurie'.

TV actor. Not really my area. But I am intrigued by the fact she was top billed in Yesterday's Hero, above Ian McShane.
