A dreadful tragic story. He sadly died playing the game we all love.

Makes you think does it? I had some guy at the course the other day trying to flog me insurance for golf, and I laughed at him.....

Not so funny I guess.

Sad news. Yet you do hear of serious injuries suffered like this from time to time.

Yes it is very sad news. Although the cricket ball is hard and possibly deadly when it hits you most injuries are bruising and bone breakage. Batsmen suffer most with wicket keepers and close fielders suffering from broken and fractured fingers. I am assuming that this was more of an outfield collision which makes serious injury less likely. Add to this the fact that he was a substitute fielder and we can see how unlikely the accident was. It seems that the odds of more than a million to one are not as favourable as we thought. R. I. P.

On an otherwise great day for Australian cricket , sad to see the death of another Invincible ...

Arthur Morris was unquestionably one of Australia's finest opening bats , a key member of Bradman's 1948 team. And from all accounts a charming fellow in life in general.
Before my time ; but he was reputedly an excellent batsman to watch ; and a logical member of all those "best left hander "XIs

Surprised to hear he died now, as he's a figure from so long ago. One of the great opening bats. A long innings.

A little surprised not more has been said of this. His record speaks for itself, and in life he has had a long innings.

RIP Basil 'Shotgun' Williams....

http://www.espncricinfo.com/westindies/ ... 34086.html

This hard-hitting Jamaican batsman hit a couple of centuries for the West Indies in the Packer years. He could walk into this WIndies Test side....

He had hundreds in Kolkata and Georgetown, so must have been handy against spin.

I see Marshall came into the WI side during the Packer years.

A 22 year old Sussex cricketer named Matt Hobden has died....

I never heard of him, but it's always sad when a 22 year old dies.

RIP.

I'd heard this yesterday. Very sad news. I think he was the lad involved on a very stubborn last wicket partnership against Durham last season with Ollie Robinson.
