A fine actor, imo, and will always be Yossarian to me. The first thing I saw him in, and a highly favoured movie for me.

I picture him in the late sixties- early seventies, in Catch 22, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and Freebie and the Bean etc. But more recently (well, the nineties...) he had support roles in a couple of massive personal favourites- Glengarry Glen Ross and Edward Scissorhands.

I think most people of my generation will remember him for a couple of goals in qualifying at the head of a WC group in 1982 which included the brilliant emerging France team of the time.
