Voges is fourth, third being Naveed Nawaz who played one game for SL in 2002.

Having read the obit, Ganteaume was a selector for WI in the seventies and eighties.

He played in the days when ships sailed from one territory to the next, and fringe players were picked according to which country they were in....

even so, it is strange that after such a debut, he wasn't picked again.

I assumed the story of why he was dropped was rather well known. He was picked again, toured England in the mid 50s but didn't play a test following a terrible run the tour games.

The obit I read suggested that a minimum of white players were kept in the side, and made it difficult for black players to establish themselves.

Ganteaume was initially picked as an injury replacement for the Test, his autobiography made it pretty clear he was dropped for scoring too slowly after getting his ton when the Windies needed to pick up the Test. Rain came down and the Test was drawn, many of the higher ups blamed Ganteaume for that due to his scoring rate.

'The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on Wednesday paid tribute to cricket writer and commentator Tony Cozier, describing him as the “voice of West Indies cricket”. Cozier, who had been ailing for some time, died Wednesday morning in Barbados. He was 75. “On behalf the WICB and the various stakeholders in West Indies Cricket we offer sincere condolences to his wife Jillian, his son Craig, his daughter Natalie, his grandchildren and other family and friends,” a WICB media release said.'

Sad news.

Some of my first memories of cricket include Cozier coming over to commentate on Australian tellie - possibly even before Channel Nine got their hands on it, so on the ABC.

Gentle, even laconic voice and style, he certainly was the voice of West Indies Cricket for me. A comforting manner and great accent, even had an easy going name.
