John Hampshire, former Yorkshire captain, England player and Test umpire has died at 76. A stalwart of the first Yorkshire side I remember. Scored a Test hundred on debut against West Indies. A prominent figure around the CC for many decades.

Stephen Hawking has died.

He will be mostly missed by me for his ongoing defence of a publicly owned NHS. But of course, that rarity, a globally recognised scientist, and also a leading cosmologist, rationalist and a successful writer.

although, I am doubtful if he really died recently.

Not after reading my Flat Earth (and other weird and wacky conspiracy theories) mate's post last week, which more than suggested that Prof Hawking actually died in the seventies (or eighties, my mind is cloudy from being woke'd so suddenly) and the impostor isn't even saying the things we have attributed to Hawking's machine - it is all a stunt to keep us believing all the garbage of "space" that we are constantly fed.

One a week, he seems to come up with a new one each week.
