A 10 day wait for a visa is nothing. !0 days must include at least one weekend, so that leaves 8 working days of which there must be either 2 Fridays or 2 Mondays and nothing in government offices happens on Mondays and Fridays, so that leaves 5 working days. However, in a 10 day period there are in fact 2 weekends so that´s 2 more days lost leaving 3 working days to process the visa. That´s a world record.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

As stated before, if they want more players instantly, then apply for a visa for a larger squad. Visa regulations are nothing to do with cricket, so its doubtful the UK government will change a visa regime on the basis of a Sri Lankan bowler attack.

Fact is before 2011 there were no issues and no issues for any other sport for those countries affected.

Even Excluding up to 4 weekend days 6 days is a joke for the visa especially considering it is probably more than 6 days since it likely Perara started the process before 22nd.

Anyway tweeted Dobell and hobbs to see if they can do research on who fault it is.
because it is not on any more.
The fact is it is clearly not on otherwise Counties, players and boards wouldn't be making a fuss if it was.

Anyway for K perara it is been 14-15 days since 22nd may so they already excluded the weekends.

if anyone thinks 10 working days is fine is an idiot.

It is more of a joke considering Sri lanka were essentially hoping both players would have arrived what 5-6 days ago and were hoping they could be in contention for the Durham test.

Suspect people in this forum won't have the view if it took 2-3 weeks to get visa for British players for an Sub C tour or any series.

:lmao

I give up Bhaveshgor. Your nativity on this subject is boarding on insane.

Try getting a tourist visa for Uzbekistan under the old LOI system, a Restricted area permit for Sikkim in India, a working visa for Far Eastern Russia where you have no fixed point of registration, a working visa for Canada, a transit visa for Belarus with appropriate stops, a visa for Kazakhstan where your entry point is the border checkpoint at Karkara, a visa for Tajikistan to travel in the GBAO permit.....

Once you have done that, come back to me and moan about someone not getting their visa in 8 working days.

Thing is sussex no one playing cricket in those countries.
If I was a sportsmen I would like to get a visa quickly enough So i can actually do my job or play the game.
For a country like Britain, visa shouldn't be such a hassle that it is for these players.

Anyway Hobbs and Dobell replied.
the boards are meant to have registered all the players months ago and have to name preliminary squads as well anyway Sri lanka stupid they knew Visa were a problem yet didn't name a bigger squad or have a bigger preliminary squad.
Pakistan should be ok in the summer since a squad of 30 have a visa to England. A tour happening at the same time.

EDIT it would be fine if it was 5-8 working days but has past examples shows it is touching 12-16 working days and that is not fine considering in that time 2 test or 4 odi could be played.

Lol that probably explains why Britain got the slowest process out of the test playing nations if they do nothing on Monday and Friday.

I think you are being very narrow minded. You have to step away from the cricket bubble that you are occupying, because as I have said before, why would the UK re-write its visa regime and policy based on the available depth of the Sri Lanka cricket team? Do remember, every single person who applies for a working visa has an economic reason to come to the country, so while x Sri Lanka player might be feel he is sufficiently important, x businessman about to sign off on a huge investment project, or even the unemployed economic migrant who needs to urgently move for work might also consider their application equally, if not more so, worthy.

Every single consular section at every single embassy in the world has rubbish availability hours. Not just Britain. Working visas for UK citizens to India take a minimum 15 days. This is standard practice! As I stated before, there are lengthy considerations that every applicant must answer and satisfy, this cant be done at the click of a finger for a country that has 120 million foreign people visit every year!

In the end, you answered your own question. Sri Lanka had time to prepare and chose to only consider a small squad. They could have easily and tentatively applied for any number of visas at the announcement of the tour, and everyone would have come.

I suggest that the reason this doesnt happen to England is because they are far more prepared.

I think pointing fingers at everthing in England without looking elsewhere is rather odd. I seem to recollect that during England´s last series in the UAE Pakistan had visa problems, one was strange that player left the tour for a short time and couldn´t get back because a new visa was required. I´m sure it was a spinner who was in that situation.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

It Seems like ECB needs to get the rules changed again to attract the best T20 players in the world for the new competition.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricke ... B-T20.html
they need about 24 overseas players and if they want the best T20 specialist they probably need to relax the rules especially considering the pool would already be small if it clashes with the international assignments and indian and English test players won't take part.

Not sure ECB actually want 3rd or 4th rate Aussies and South African players filling the spots.
