Interesting that Australia only has one player in those lists.

They are 8 points ahead of the next team on ODI rankings. World Champions. I guess they are a champion team made up of players who play for the team......

In the 20/20 rankings we have ONE bowler in the top 100. Finn at 28.

But you'd still like to see an England player on top of the rankings, wouldn't you?

Not too bothered. Obviously I like to see our boys do well, but if another player is doing better and is number one, I won't lose any sleep. The fact as Arthur mentions. Holland have ten bowlers in the top 100, and we have one, says a lot.

In 20/20s Broad and Finn have been as high as 4 and Dernbach 6. I doubt we will ever see Broad and Dernbach again although Broad has a good 20/20 record and is very experienced. It's strange that England think they don't need him in a World Cup.

Maybe Broad was tarnished a bit by the last WCT20 when he was (I think) captain and was criticised for not bowling himself at the end, and the team was terrible. He didn't have a good fifty over WC. I think England have tried to move on with a new set of players. He's better of resting his heel isn't he?

Since Jan 2014, Broad's econ is 8.48, high even for T20, and as in all limited overs, he stopped taking wickets. From the same point, Plunkett has taken a wicket of every 8 ball, Willey every ten balls (Broad every 18)... Plunkett goes for 6.75 rpo. The numbers of games are small, but surprising that he (and Rankin, though maybe fielding was more of an issue) hasn't been given more of a chance.

On performances, Gurney might have had more of a chance. And it'll be interesting to see if Rankin shows the England selectors up.

Only six players left from the last WC, though Root and Stokes were injured.

Buttler, Morgan, Jordan, Hales, Moeen and Woakes.

Broad, Parry, Dernbach, Bresnan, Bopara, Kieswetter, Bell, Lumb and Tredwell have gone. Wright withdrew with injury. Finn was 'unselectable'.

Poor JD bowled all the hit me overs.

We hardly hear mention of Broad's heel anymore. Maybe its healed.
I think Gurney had a bad ODI series. 3 matches 1 wicket at 158.00. No reason to write him off 20/20s though. Rankin is a mystery. Maybe he was injured at the time.

Figures wise the three fast bowlers look to be Topley, Willey and Plunkett. Must be Jordan offers more in the field, with the bat with getting 27* from 9 balls once, and will be used as the death bowler with Topley.
