The Indian Premier League has been all but formally recognised in the new Future Tours Programme as a global event. In the next FTP cycle (2019-23), the IPL is the only domestic Twenty20 league during which all international cricket will come to a halt, for a period of two months, across April and May.

That's a joke really

If there was a yearly international t20 comp it would make sense

But to stop international cricket for the IPL seems farcical

Indeed it is a shambles, the traditional English season gets pushed back or even shrunk for a domestic T20 tournament. From recent experience it is better for international cricket to be played in May than later September in England when the dew really kicks in.

I suppose England players should be available more for their counties.

I was about to facetiously comment that if the best players in the world are playing in India, the England team should be free to play in the CC. But of course, the limited overs side is pretty good.
