Root will probably be England first all time great batsman for a very long time.
By the way as a great, I am meaning in world terms and not england terms.

To be fair, having read the article yesterday, I didn't think the headline matched it (as Paul Allott said in the video).

Was the comparison 'they like to drink tea'?

Comparing their value to the side.

Bradman was at least the best batter in his side!

The section was a bit weird, they mentioned the article but then talked about cook and his status and then went back and said the article headline was misleading.

In off topic the writer programme been ruined by sky they should ditch it now. At least they had some papers today last week was awful.

Was annoying since I posted it after they mentioned the headline but didn't actually talk about it 3-4 mins later.

Not sure how you can work out how much a player worth to the side especially when they are still playing.
Also cook only singlehandly won two series or series been linked to him and even then the India one more remembered by panesar and kp contributions but kp is harsh really since cook score more runs and was more solid, kp was genius, lucky and a fluke.
Reckon Bradman won quite a few on his own.

The rest is really been a team effort or other players played a key role.
Even when England were number 1 for about 10 months it was a team effort think all the batsman were averaging 50 plus and bresnan, Swann, Anderson and broad all under 30s

Weirdly enough you can argue kp was really the most valuable player since he played the match winning or Game turning knocks or Anderson or broad.
Tbh root destined for greatness since he got cook stubbornness and kp and bell shot making skills.
Probably England first fully completed batsman since the olden days.
Not sure anyone had the mental strength and the stroke play root got, batsman have generally got one and not the other.

Kp lacked constinetcy and actually struggled to get motivated for lesser teams, bell lacks mental strength and cook lacks shot play.

A typically English cricket headline -- one could probably insert any of the top ten run scorers names and put either 'over' or 'under'.

What cannot be argued with is the scorebook

One man's judgement is another man's appeal.

Not as bad as Kohli is greater than Bradman on the basis of IPL ;)

yeah that was so funny during the IPL.
Although they did really mean Kohli was playing like the bradman of T20.

I suppose Kohli does lay claim to be the greatest limited over player ever, even if his career isn't over.

All in honesty, he averages nearly double what others do in international cricket. If he maintains that, surely he has a legitimate claim?

Not sure why T20 and tests should be devalued in anyway. Different set of skills needed, but I dont exactly see one better than the other.
