Hes scored 636 runs in his last 10 ODI matches, 3 x 100, 3 x 50, at 95SR...... Doesnt sound like a batsman struggling to time the ball well....

And as we are takling about Virat....

T20I average of 57

57....

Like a 5 and 7 together...

No, not 5+7, so he averages 12....

57...

FIFTY SEVEN....

I still struggle to believe this even though its unrelated.

In short, he can be as successful as Gerry Liebenburg in tests, but he is still one of the best players ever to step on a cricket field.

When did Kholi last play a one day match?

Its been a while hasn't it? He didn't play in Zimbabwae and i don't think there was one day games against WI, just t20.

Seems like India have not played much ODI recently.

He is a good Test batsman, nothing more.

Karun Nair has been thrown into the mix now. Where do we see him fitting in?

not sure as I haven't seen much of him. Seems like more of a test player than an ODI / T20 type so batting at 6 could be low - but I don't see Pujara, Kohli and Rahane dropping down the order so he'd have to bat at 6. However, with Ashwin, Saha, Jadeja, Mishra. Shami potentially following him there is some batting to come so he can hopefully bat properly and not feel like he has to just try and get some quick runs before he runs out of partners.

Dinesh Karthik is surely putting himself in the frame for some short form cricket for India. A good turn out in the IPL might see him turn out for the Champion's Trophy.

A question I was mulling over during today's IPL game. How would you rank the following players right now on batting credentials?

MS Dhoni
Karun Nair
Risbah Pant
Sanju Samson

Even when Karun cracked that triple ton, said it on Twitter that those who have watched his progress (he plays for Karnataka), he perhaps has a flaw against seam bowling. It seems to be coming true. On the other hand, KL looked the real deal even say 5 years back and I had written a piece on him.

Sanju Samson is another one that I have tended to see him as a bit of a hype. Pant looks like a better prospect. Moreover, Manish Pandey should get a chance in shorter forms. India is certainly wasting his talent. He is one of those who plays shots in unusual areas.

I find pandey problem is that he isn't attractive enough in terms of stroke play or gets massive numbers for a big state.
he always seems to be a forgotten man even in IPL terms people don't rate the guy even when he gets scores.
pretty crazy to say that about a man averaging 48 in first class terms.
like you say he scores runs in unusual areas it feels like the selectors don't like that and prefer players that play the traditional way.
personally don't think india would pick someone like Steve Smith, Greme Smith or anyone with a weird playing style even if they were scoring so many runs in domestic cricket.
