It would also help if the likes of Pandya, Rishi and even Umesh and Varun Aaron played a stint in county cricket to hone their game. Was it RP Singh or Zak who raved about the impact that playing county cricket had on his game

Zak played for Worcestershire and became a much better bowler after

one of the other left armers had a stint at Leicester I think and was also much improved.

Rp singh don't think he played much though since he got called up for india.

Doubt many indian bowlers will get a stint in County cricket when counties are only allowed 1 overseas player per team.
was easier when the limit was 2.
since it went to 1 only Harby, Pujara, Gambhir, Aaron and Karthik played county cricket so tough ask expecting Indian players to play county cricket when so few actually play it.

Indian pace bowlers, highly unlikely. After all why bother when there are plenty of South Africans, Kiwis and Australians who are much more familiar with how to bowl pace on helpful wickets. I've always though that counties should be looking to get decent Indian spinners over, but it is tough with the new overseas rules given most international Indian spinners would be in the IPL I imagine.

For the record, I don't agree with the new overseas rules.

Yeah don't think BCCI should look for a county deal anyway, if they get one nice for the players, but really BCCI should be looking for an A tour to england or more likely NZ.

TBH most of the international spinners won't be available although can imagine some getting signed if the pitches are going to be more dry again in england.
Actually how many indian/pakistani/sri lankan spinners are actually available on the current rules.
india only Jadeja, Ashwin, Mishra, A Patel and from there only Mishra looks a good county pick.
Pakistan only Yasir Shah, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Nawaz and from there only Yasir looks a good signing.
Sri lanka Herath + the other two that I can't even remember their names and not bothered to look them up in cricinfo but Sri lanka season clashes with the county summer so again unlikely for signings.

Herath has played County cricket in the past for a couple of counties as Murali did before him, Ajmal has also played but Shah is relatively new on the scene and had a mixed tour of England.

Spinners are in relatively high demand with Essex signing Harmer and Derbyshire signing Tahir this year.

Champ trophy side is maybe:

Rohit
Dhawan/Vijay/Rahul
Kohli
Rahane
Dhoni
Pandey / Raina
Jadeja / Pandya
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Shami
Ishant / Umesh / Kulkarni

Don't think Rahane is in the scheme of things at No.4 now. MSD has said that he'll bat there with a toss up between Pandey, Raina and Jadhav for 2 spots at 5 & 6. The opener's slot is a straight shootout between Dhawan, Rahul and Rahane. I think Rahane, after his failures in the NZ series and his generally poor ODI record is probably below the other 2 now. It'll be Rahul or Dhawan. Rahul likely to be the first choice openers in Tests so has the opportunity to make an impression as India have only 3 more ODIs before the CT so Test form may play a role in selection (Yes, Rahane is a terrific test player as well but is already a proven disappointment in ODIs).

Also Bumrah ahead of Ishant/Umesh/Kulkarni. Bumrah is probably the first choice quick in LOIs now. The rest of your side looks okay.

Praveen Kumar did well with the bat and ball as well.

Bhuvi has the potential if he works on his batting - he really could make a big difference.

Ashwin definitely is - Jadeja should be too but his batting seems to have gone downhill. Axar did ok today as well. Kulkarni has done pretty well as well.

Personally I'm disappointed that Rishi Dhawan has never been given a chance in Indian colours - we keep wasting time on Binny and Pandya instead.

Manoj Prabhakar opened the batting as well as bowling.

Irfan was an allrounder. He has stats similar to Flintoff.

Wouldn't classify Dhawal as allrounder. He is not an allorunder for Mumbai team as well, although he can get into a partnership with some specialist batsmen.

Rishi is not up to international level now, but he can be considered again. Axar is also a newbie and may develop into a allrounder.

Binny has got chances but he did not make much use at various levels.

The most preferred allrounder is Hardik now, because Dhoni is looking for a pace bowling all rounder.

Grey blazer or Bharath Ramaraj said on Twitter that when he Seen Rishi Dhawan bowl in Ranji cricket he generally struggle to control swing at 120 kph and can't understand why he averages 26 and at times Stuart binny bowls better than him.

So not the greatest endorsements by him for Dhawan considering Binny awful as well.

Think from the odi pace all rounder, Greyblazer rates Hardik pandya the most although the cupboard is bare.

That should be it for Rahane's CT chances unless he has an exceptional IPL next year. It'll be hard to justify picking him over Dhawan or Rahul against England (and there are only 3 ODIs anyway).

Following on from earlier posts, Derbyshire have sign Jeevan Mendis further showing how much international spinners are valued in the county scene. If there were fewer restrictions on overseas players and a better dialogue between the ECB and the BCCI there would be a lot of counties that would be in the market for Indian spinners.

forgot Bumrah :facepalm

Not sure I see Dhawan doing too well in England given how he's done of late
