Keep those entries coming. I'll start up with some of the early evening categories. Although the doors don't open until 18.30. Some of the candidates wanted to be here and gone before Giles Clarke started his dinner.

Best Umpire.

Umpires are of course remembered for their howlers and their eccentricities. 2015 was very much the year of the howler, and poor Kumar Dharmasena carried on that work in 2016. Last year's co-winner Paul Reiffel is memorable this year for taking a ball to the back of the head in Mumbai. And Bruce Oxenford made friends across the world by confronting James Anderson for bowling infringements.

Umpire Marais Erasmus has managed to iron out the problems he's had with DRS in the past. A familiar official for England over the past six months, the stout South African polled well. But this year's man in the white coat was co-winner on CMS last year (and the serial winner of the ICC Umpiring award): Sheffield and Yorkshire's Richard Kettleborough.

Woman's Cricketer of the Year.

There were well deserved votes for Amy Satterthwaite, a star of the women's WCT20, but the comfortable winner was ELLYSE PERRY, a genuine all rounder whether batting or bowling, cricket or football. A quiet WCT20, but as usual excelled in the 50 over game: third highest run scorer with 732 at 81.3, batting at 3 or 4; and 24 wickets at 24.4.
I always say that everybody's right.

Spirit of Cricket Award

Captain of the Year.

I often read that the captain has no influence in cricket anymore. That a captain is as good as his attack. The best attack, particularly in Test cricket over the past twelve months has been summoned by India's Virat Kohli, who came second in the best captain poll. But there has been a deeper story developing in international cricket in the past few years, emerging from Pakistan's lowest ever point: their tour of England under Salman Butt in 2010. Pakistan cricket chronic cricketing issues had reached an acute crisis.

There was absolutely no love to be found for Pakistan cricket at that point, forced to (symbolically) make a new home in the empty stadiums of their desert exile in UAE. Under the unpredictable and occasionally eccentric Misbah ul Haq, their reputation began to turn around, but would be tested most unforgivingly on their return to England, where there was little goodwill, and where three players had been jailed on their last visit.

This was Misbah's first Test tour of the UK. He started well at Lord's, leading from the front, not only in scoring a ton at HQ at the first attempt, but leading their surprising press-up celebration that would be reprised over the series. Les Mis was widely liked, partly I think, out of sympathy for taking on a job few will have envied. But also, I think, because we sense that behind the quirks lies a serious, dependable and admirable man. And one who is happy to eschew the limelight.

And he was 42. There were signs that Mis was nearing the end but was taking on a few last difficult tours for the good of the team. There was a gratifying suggestion of the Hollywood ending in Pakistan coming back to draw the series at the Oval, and Misbah taking Pakistan to the top of the Test rankings. Arguably, a saviour of Pakistan cricket, there is a is a warm backwash of gratification in naming MISBAH UL HAQ CMS's captain of the year, for being so much more than just a captain, for being a true leader, and his team's popularity an example to others of the benefits of decency for its own sake.

And PAKISTAN win the Spirit of Cricket nomination for their goodwill generated by all of their squad on this tour; they will be remembered with fondness in this country.
I always say that everybody's right.
