Yep when you have two world class all rounders in conditions made for them.
india will win 90% of test in Asia+WI without even trying.
add in the reserve all rounders in Jayant Yadav then hard to see india being a poor test side again for the foreseeable future considering half the test playing teams playing in Asian conditions including WI, technically 6 if you include Zimbabwe.
7 if you include Afghanistan.
Think it was dobell making this point yesterday that england should really start looking at slow/spinning pitches since half the test teams play in those conditions.
need to improve in the pace stocks but kohli likes using them so I can see india improving on that front with him captaining and at the moment india got decent pace option but do lose the all round batting depth thought but then again Shami, B Kumar not that bad but not in the level of Ashwin, Jadeja and jayant.

A few England fans will have gained a lot of respect for them, as they will finally realise that they dont play on raging bunsens that was the casual fans fantasy for the last few years.

Ashwin and Jadeja are incredibly clever bowls, full of guile, variation and intelligence. They are so much more than some people give them credit for. As I said before the series, Jadeja is probably the most accurate spinner I can remember. Just gives nothing away ever.

Jadeja in particular has surprised me. Only 2 years ago I watched dear old Ian Bell smack him all round the Ageas Bowl.

yeah jadeja improved massively stopped being an one dimensional bowler to being someone that can still offer some threat on flat non turning decks.

Best two spinners are Herath and Ashwin. Herath has had a phenomenal couple of years.

Given there's also Jadeja and Yasir (second fastest to 100 wickets) around, there's a bit of a renaissance for spinners. Many others prominent in limited overs.

Maybe the rankings tend to favour the teams that have been playing their home season recently?

Ashwin is a brilliant bowler

Hopefully he gets more of a chance to prove he can be effective away from spin friendly pitches

He has all the tools to do so

Ashwin for me deserves the spot right now, but IMO there's no way Jadeja is the 2nd best bowler in the world...he dosen't even play away from home....so basically he is no2 in the world in home conditions...but no way is he number 2 in the world
