The Under 19s Thread

Postby The Professor » Mon Feb 06, 2017 9:21 pm

I always appear to be crapping on randomly about Under 19 players so I thought I'd give myself a home.

Some cracking players coming through at the moment. Nipun Ransika is tearing things up for Sri Lanka. Delray Rawlins has scored two centuries in 4 games for England but...

Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw are two very talented young Indian batsmen to keep an eye on. They both scored 88 ball centuries today vs England and have very promisingly futures.

As ever, India producing quality young batsmen but Dravid needs to unearth some pace bowlers to take the fight to the other Test nations.
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."

in under 19 level india tend to have the best seam bowlers as well, maybe not in pace but in control, seam, swing and movement.
actually quite crazy the gap between india and another teams sometimes.
Nice that you started a thread, always liked watching and looking out for some under 19 team and players.

no surprise india thrashing england though.
India just have too much experience, too much players available and play far too much cricket at that age, when you compare that to the england players where only Fisher generally played a similar level to the indian players.

Very good experience for the english boys 10 odi and probably 4 test in a yr is a fantastic deal between ECB and BCCI.

might see you next yr 365, might go and see all the india under 19 games.

Dravid will be please with Gill and Shaw.
both were getting troubled in the first few odi with some technical issues and nicking off early but both shown signs of fixing it and becoming better players in the same series.
England did start well in the series winning the first game and running india close in the 2nd.
Fisher being very impressive and so was Rawlins but like always england just didn't have the depth of talent throughout the side to keep up with india in the under 19 level.

india under 19 scored 4 centuries and England only 1.
in the bowling fronts india got 6 bowlers averaging less than 20 with england only 1.
Nagarkoti, Anukul Roy, Rahul Chahar, Shivam Mavi,Vivekanand Tiwari,Ishan Porel.
At the moment seems like india are scoring at a quicker rate than england and taking way more wickets.
only fisher and to a lesser extent compared to india Rawlins taking wickets.
Rawlins averaging 25.

England and India tie off the last ball. Looked like England were winning that one, but at least a much better performance over all.

great start from the under 19 boys in the test.
Although surprised india Under 19 picking an 2nd or 3rd 11.
seems like some of the better players are not playing the game unless they want to give other players the chance.
surprised to see no gill, shaw and Rana.

Isn't the team different just because it's a different format.

Interesting second half to the game with wickets now falling quickly as the teams try to chase a result. Six wickets for off spinner Sijomon Joseph.

Seem like I was partly right.
the big under 19 players were called up for State teams.
Shubman gill played a very good knock today for Punjab that impressed Yuvraj singh on a tricky wicket might be a name to look out for still only 17.
Shaw is also playing for mumbai.
