The Ashes Cometh.

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

Woakes made his debut against your lot. He must have played some limited overs stuff too. His record away from home is spectacularly bad, so he's by no means a banker.

Crane really broke through into the consciousness of the selectors by doing well in Australia, but at grade and Sheffield Shield level.

I think the Aussies will have a few newies for us in Handscom, Renshaw, Cartwright. Maybe a new keeper too.

I don't think you'll be seeing Cartwright in the tests.

I see Collingwood will at first be our fielding coach while helping out with the batting. When Bond goes after the 2nd Test he will be the bowling coach. :scared

The England have landed.

The usual curtain raiser for an England side arriving for the Ashes is a hostile press conference, so I trust the old traditions will be observed.

Probably the more threatened the Aus press feel England are, the more they go after them.

I haven't seen too much lately....

Aus cricket fans should give thanks that CA decided to schedule 3 rounds of SS cricket before the test series starts. I think we need it.

Wonder if the warm ups will be of a good standard rather than the unfamiliar line ups we get around the world now. Shame England don't get to play the state sides anymore. The warm ups are against Cricket Australia XIs.

Used to be a bit of status in the local sides beating the tourists.

Alex Carey of SA is a candidate for the gloves (apparently).

Going on the article I've just read, it's:

Marsh/Renshaw
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Handscom
Cartwright/Henriques/Maxwell/Head/Stoinis
Carey/Nevil/Wade
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Hazlewood

I would think that Renshaw is pretty safe (atm), and that either Marsh bros is also a candidate for 6. Henriques maybe a left fielder, amongst the others mentioned, atm.

It seems that both Wade and Carey had bad weekends with the bat, and Nevill(e) grassed one very straightforward chance.

As I said earlier, it is a good thing we have three SS rounds before the first test.
