I guess if England were 2-0 ahead ( don't get happy, just a hypothetical situation) then the non performers in Aussie lineup would have been replaced in two tests. More chances to out of form players can be given in favorable situation later on.

Don't think there is any doubt Bancroft will play the five Tests ; but he will be hoping to score well in the second innings here in Melbourne , and/or Sydney , with a eye to the SA trip.

Still early : but I suspect Morkel, Philander & co will have noted his rather awkward first innings here against the lifting ball with some interest.

From the bits i have seen of him bat in the ashes, I'm not sure he will have a long test career.

He really needs some runs in Sydney to boost his confidence before going to SA. His only saving grace at present is that Matt Renshaw has had a terrible season this year. Only managing to reach 50 once.

Big question marks over 2 of Australia's top 4.

Yes, he has managed to get only starts and see of the new ball to some extent only. He will definitely need runs else someone else in good form in domestic cricket will take his place in squad.

I reckon Bancroft won't be going to South Africa.

After flopping in the Ashes, Cameron starts badly in test series versus SA.

Burn had a great FC season, he might feel hard done by by not getting selected to go to SA.

Better second time around from Bancroft...one thing he has managed to do is frequently stay in with Warner long enough to at least see off the opening attack ; will buy him some time. Fair to say the jury is still out though.
