Jadeja: Wickets 143/ Average 20.7/SR 55/Econ 2.3.

Jadeja fewer wickets and worse strike rate, better average and econ.

Ashwin generally tends to bowl more overs and gets the tail out more often. I believe Jadeja has a vastly better record against specialist batsmen, especially the best ones.

Ashwin is also a better bat than Jaddu.

However, when we compare fielding Jaddu's fielding is in different class as compared to that of Ashwin.

Rather abstract and blanket statement not borne out by facts I'm afraid.

I feel selectors will pick Ashwin for the first test and drop Jaddu. Personally i would have Ashwin as our sole spinner in the playing 11 for 1st test in SA.

The question must be that if he was such a great spinner, surely his place would not be in question? Especially with his recent record.

It is telling that he plays very little outside of friendly conditions

how is that telling if india hasn't played an overseas meaningful test for 4rs.
Anyway how is your friend Woakes during overseas, wonder if you will start attacking him soon about it.

Aesthetically maybe. Jadeja is far more effective against top class batsmen (Amla, Root, Smith, Cook, Clarke, Du Plessis). Williamson is the lone exception here who has struggled more against Ashwin.

I will personally pick the spinner on depending how many Right or lefties are playing but I will probably have jadeja in the team if you can only pick 1 spinner.
feel at the moment he brings more to the table if we need only one spinner.
but in reality not really bothered what spinner india picks.

No one said Ashwin was an all time great either.
but it is ridiculous Ashwin is expected to perform everywhere early in his career but Woakes isn't.
Ashwin get ridiculed about it and Woakes doesn't.
Kohli gets ridiculed about england but Root doesn't get ridiculed about Australia.

Erm, read the OP again. That is precisely why this topic came up. If a separate thread is made about Woakes, his record will get scrutinized too.

He never said Ashwin was an all time great though all he said was should ashwin now be considered india greatest spinner/All rounder.
the key word being considered.

Other than cook those are all right handers

Less to do with jadeja being a better bowler

More to do with him being a better bowler to right handers

Because jadeja is generally the one who plays in away tests

Not sure what woakes has to do with a thread about ashwin tbh

not really, they played the same amount of Away test.
1 each in SA.
both played couple in England.
Jadeja didn't play any in Australia.
so your point is.

That if ashwin was India's best ever spinner or all rounder he'd play every test match and it would never cross anyones mind to drop him

Thought that was fairly obvious what I was getting at
