Lots of differing opinions swirling around on this one.

Be interested to know what our pov is.

If they are going to continue adding the odd one onto the end of a tour, then yes.

If they decide to take it seriously and have a 3 or 5 or 7 match series at the end of a 3, 5 or 7 match ODI series, then no

Worked ok in the 2005 Ashes as a good natured curtain raiser for the tour. But mostly I think it doesn't succeed. International T20 will click if a lot of countries are playing and it replicates a football type context. But that's a long way off. Currently, these games are desperately ephemeral.

No - if anything I'd like to see more Tri-series like the recent Trans-Tasman one. Not only it provided context to the games shortest form, but seeing gun players get together and play at the highest level was a joy to watch. I'd like to see England host a T20 tri-series of sorts in 2020 when West Indies and Pakistan come to town, as preparation for the forthcoming World T20 in Australia.

Also the tri-series provided valuable revenue for a small test nation like New Zealand. 34,000 for the group stage match against Australia on a Friday night in Auckland would have paid a few salaries just from ticket revenue.

Yep BfP, no need for the IPL to have a window in the FTP.

The ICC might as well have it's own World Twenty20 Championship for 3 years out of 4 - 9 teams, 16 group games, top 4 to finals day. ICC can earn a fair whack and use that money to pay boards and players handsomely, even have a levy for the Associate Nations. Host the Championship between March and May so all active test nations can facilitate games.

Naturally retain the World Twenty20 on a 4 year cycle so Associates have a chance to play on the global stage.

Why abandon the format which attracts the most fans?

In the Caribbean only three men and a dog turn up for test cricket. But T20i matches are packed.

It's marketing common sense.

WI didn't had a T20i in 2.5 years until March 2017. What few they have are pooled into single venues, which isn't going to do much for crowd numbers but makes for less overheads for tv broadcasters. I expect ticket prices will be very low. This doesn't seem to be a triumph of marketing.

Dread to think how many turn up for a domestic First Class game in the Caribbean!

Reading some comments from Jos Buttler saying that Bayliss is wrong and there should be more T20is.

He also goes on to say that in fifty years time T20 will be the sole form of cricket.

Who would have thought IPL millionaire Buttler would be such a strident fan of the game.

It'd be interesting to know how he thinks it would work. What would be a typical fixture programme.

I mean if he thinks T20 will be the only form of cricket.
