Sri Lankan cricket is in a really weird place at the moment.

After their U19 team were beaten by Australia U19 in a ODI series, the corresponding Test fixture saw Sri Lanka gain supremacy. The jury is very much out on the youngsters.

But what about the second tier of Lankans? Well they are currently being completely dominated by an Ireland A side. The Irish second string declared after a whopping 508 runs were put on the board. The most impressive contributor was James Cameron-Dow who got 76* batting at 10.

In reply Sri Lanka A lost 3 wickets for the gain of 99 runs - a deficit of 409.

Another Titanic display for Ireland as James Cameron-Dow adds to his 76* with his second five-fer of the tour.

Sri Lanka collapsed from 227-4 to then lose the last six wickets for 76 runs - the same amount that JCD got yesterday.

Cameron-Dow has now got 12 of the 20 Sri Lankan wickets that have fallen in this series.

Sri Lanka were asked to follow on with a session and a half still ahead of them. Sri Lanka are 180-4 in their second innings - a deficit of 25

Mad that Ireland are dominating them.

They really are at rock bottom. Strange to think it's not long since they had one of the best sides around.

Sri Lanka A snatched a draw on the last day of what has been a disappointing Unofficial Test for them.

This was largely down to an absolutely phenomenal performance from Pathum Nissanka. The 20 year old made a name for himself by converting his overnight score of 97 into a double ton - finishing on 217. Sri Lanka declared on 468 when he was out.

This left 24 overs for Ireland to fritter away at the end of what has been a really entertaining spectacle at Hambantota.

Nissanka has now played 19 first class matches - averaging 68 and boasting 7 100s.

Slightly missed the boat with the ODI series but it seems like there has been total dominance by Sri Lanka A. They have now got an unassailable 3-0 lead over Ireland A.

Minod Bhanuka's 87 ball 113 helped Sri Lanka easily overhaul Ireland's 268.

Blast from the past Tharanga Paranavitana scored 215 (very close to his High Score) in Tamil Union's draw with Colombo in the Sri Lanka Premier League Tournament this week.

Sri Lanka A made it a series whitewash against Ireland A thanks to two centuries in their innings - one of which was from Upal Tharanga.

You really have to question what is the point of having a Sri Lankan who has played in 232 ODIs represent your A-side against a side only just out of the Associate network.

Sinhalese beat Colombo in the final of their 50 over tournament today thanks to an impressive 212 run opening partnership.

Danushka Gunathilaka top scored with 116. It is the second century in the last five matches for the side. Might be one to watch at the World Cup.

Seems that Sri Lankan cricket has taken a collective turn in the last few days.

After the senior team turned the tide in their World Cup campaign, their Under-19 side - who had lost the series against Pakistan already - pulled a victory back to finish 3-2.

Kamil Mishra impressed again and got 87 - his third score of 50+ on the tour.

It takes his average for the year to 50.8.

More tide turning for Sri Lankan cricket today as Sri Lanka A team won a severely rain affected game against a quite weak India A team side.....but a win is a win.

They managed to limit the runs of all the Indian batsmen with the notable exception of Prashant Chopra who got 129.

India set Sri Lanka 291 which was adjusted to 265 in 46 overs after the rains came in Belgaum. India lead the series 2-1.

Big showcase finals are a real opportunity for young players to make their mark in selectors minds.

Today Colombo, who have been unbeaten all throughout the tournament, beat Dambulla in the final of the Sri Lanka Provincial Under-19s One Day Tournament.

The final, a repeat fixture of the very first game of the tournament, saw a big score from Ahan Wickramasinghe who got 127* batting at 4 as Colombo got to 303. In reply Dambulla could only get to 242.

In his four matches across the tournament, Wickramasinghe scored 290 runs with only one score below 50.

Watched a random SLC Twenty-20 Tournament and was reminded of Dilshan Munaweera who was flirting with ODI selection only last year but has seemingly dropped off the radar.

Looked really good today and got a fourfer for his side Negombo.
