No. I have been thinking that it is strange that we haven't been swamped (pun intended) with news about him, here in Aus, at least, and especially on the weekend.

Last I saw, about 24 hours ago is 'critical but stable'.

an hour or two after posting this, Durham, I heard a press release from his family. They gave great praise to the men who did take him to the hospital. In an induced coma, it sounded like he might be like that for some time.

The A team series between Sri Lanka and Australia looks to be an opportunity for some failing ex-internationals to reassert their claims rather than a breeding ground for youth.

This is best seen by the match winning performance that Cameron Green put in today. A veteran of 17 International caps across all three formats, Green has only recently been out of the frame for the full national team. His 111 ball 119 in Australia Australia chase of 297 would have maybe edged him a bit closer to that frame once more.

This theme of experienced players forcing their agenda was continued across the board with Matt Renshaw (11 Tests) and Dhananjaya de Silva (121 national appearances!!!) also excelling with the bat.
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."

James Pattinson has asked Victoria to terminate his contract for next season, with an expected retirement announcement to come in the very near future.

For me, one of the most exciting players to come out of Australia in my lifetime. WIthout the injuries I am absolutely sure that this boy would have gone far.... I wish him the best in retirement if he does indeed hang up his whites.

Bloody hell. Australia are playing India in a Test at the Oval.

Boland in for the injured Hazlewood. This looks like the side for the first Test.

Mitch1 having right old pop at Wee Davey

"It's been five years and David Warner has still never really owned the ball-tampering scandal. Now the way he is going out is underpinned by more of the same arrogance and disrespect to our country. As we prepare for David Warner's farewell series, can somebody please tell me why?"

"Why a struggling Test opener gets to nominate his own retirement date. And why a player at the centre of one of the biggest scandals in Australian cricket history warrants a hero's send-off? Warner certainly isn't Australia's Test captain and never deserved to be for that matter. In fact, he ends his career under a lifetime leadership ban."

"Does this really warrant a swansong, a last hurrah against Pakistan that was forecast a year in advance as if he was bigger than the game and the Australian cricket team?"

I can't say that I disagree with any of that

I find two things amusing about this....

Firstly, Johnson took time out of his schedule without prompting, to launch a verbal attack on someone else being an ar*ehole..... which is the kind of thing that only an ar*ehole would do..... And secondly, the article I read with this news described Mitchell Johnson as an all time Aussie legend.... so the irony is, he's just an above average player with a record that was hardly special, getting shirty that someone else was unfittingly being sent of as a legend.

I think Mitchell Johnson might need a mirror for Christmas. Great player at home, not good enough away? Sound familiar, Mitchell? Granted, Warner doesnt seem like a nice bloke, but Johnson at his best was also prone to mouthing off and not afraid to get in peoples faces.

I think Warner averages 60 odd in Australia, and his last innings he played he whacked 200 vs SA..... suggesting dropping him for home tests would be a little bit crazy. On Aussie pitches, he bats like prime Lara or Tendulkar.

This can be explained in a few words.

Johnson was writing for a paper. A Western Australian one at that
