Today UAE's Mohammad Shahzad bowled out Afghanistan's Mohammad Shahzad.

Has a player with the exact same name ever dismissed someone in International cricket before?

Good spot, 365. That'd be a nice question for the cricinfo stats fella.

Brilliant! This is better than Alviro Petersen getting out to Steven Patterson

Bit of an odd one but....

Do Indian players get more incongruously high individual high scores than any other nationality of batsmen?

Over the last two months we have seen two Cricketers who are not exactly consummate batsmen, Karun Nair and Wriddhiman Saha, come out of nowhere and get massive scores in the long form of the game. This appears to be more regular with Indian batsmen or is that me being bias?

Since SA came back into tests, West Indies have had the most triples (two each from Gayle and Lara). Australia, Pakistan, Sri lanka and India have three, and South Africa and New Zealand, one each. I expect WI have played among the fewest Tests too.

Scores of 250+ from 1991

Eight: West Indies, Australia and Sri lanka

Seven: India and South Africa

Six: New Zealand

Five : Pakistan

Four: England

One: Zimbabwe

Three of the West Indies scores were made at St John's. Over half of the Indian scores were by Sehwag, who must have the best individual record (4).

Awesome responses. It I was talking about players who seem to come along and get a gigantic score and then disappear for long stretches.

Two questions I can't seem to find answer to:

1. Most dot balls in an ODI match (Provoked by the West Indies-Pakistan series)

2. Most hat tricks in a year in T20 cricket (Provoked by Tye's second in a calendar year today)

2 hat tricks on the same day too. That can't have happened very often

dont know if this is the answer to your first question but its the lowest score ever where the full 50 overs were completed i think

Have you tried the Ask Steven page on cricinfo? It's pretty interesting (to a cricket nerd like myself) and often other posters will fill in the answers.

I'm not sure how you define 'incongruous', but the approach I took to attempting to answer the question was to look at the high scores of batsmen with a low overall career average (less than 40, which is generally considered the benchmark for being a test-level top 6 batsman) since 2000:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine ... pe=batting

This shows that since 2000, the number of players with a career average of less than 40 that had a high score of more than 200 are:
NZ: Four
West Indies: Three
England, Pakistan, South Africa, India: Two
Sri Lanka, Australia, Bangladesh: One

Note that Nair and Saha do not appear in the list above. Calling Nair a less than consummate batsmen is perhaps a little unfair? He has a FC average of 55. Saha has a high score of 117, which isn't exactly incongruously high (IMHO) for a player who averages over 30.

If you change the thresholds to a career average of 45 and a score of 250 plus:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine ... pe=batting
West Indies: Three
NZ: Two
England, SL: One each.

So I conclude that actually New Zealand and West Indies are the leaders in the 'batsmen having incongrously high scores compared to their overall career performance' metric.

Any idea of the most wides bowled in ODIs. I know of one current player who has 327.
Cricinfo didn't attribute wides to a bowler until about April 1994. Akram played 356 ODIs and must have over 600.

I hate to open the 'South African quota' can of worms against but does it extend to South Africa A teams?

Was some odd selection for their game against England Lions today and wondered if it was down to that.

yep they have Quota in A team although I do actually agree with it in A teams and domestic cricket but so in international games.
