I did read somewhere that Shaun Marsh was trying to get himself fit for the latter stages of the IPL. I don't think we'll see Brett Lee again anytime soon. He'll go on to become the on-the-spot commentator for the channel nine team.

Nothing very recent - I seem to recall reading that he was focussing on getting himself right for next summer and thats about it

Probably getting a wallaby tattooed on his stomach or something. Ouch.

If Ben Hilfenhaus comes back fit and firing, I can see Siddle missing out long term. Luckily for him, Aussie bowlers always seem to be breaking down, so I guess we'll see more of him at some point. :rasta

Steve Finn has taken 14 wickets in the current county match between Middlesex and Worcestershire, with an outstanding effort of 9-37 in one of the innings, but it looks like he may still end up on the losing side! Which made me wonder, what are the best match or innings figures someone has achieved despite being on the losing team?

In test cricket Merv Hughes once took 13 wickets against the great Caribbean team in 88/89 yet ended up on the losing side :D . Gordon may know more about that match.

Oh now I remember Srinath taking 13 wickets too against Pakistan in 99 but Anwar scored a fine century and India lost the match.

Good stuff GB. :thumb I think innings wise the 9-37 may be tough to beat but in terms of match figures there will probably be one better, certainly in domestic cricket.

This of course depends on whether Middlesex get bowled out :D

You may have to ask some very good cricket statistician to get the answer

Dont know about overall match, but in terms of innings. Mitchell Johnsons 8/60 odd at Perth last year must be up there vs SA.

Gus fraser's 8 for in POS in the 90's?

Daren Sammys 7 for 50 odd at Old trafford?

The only people I could think who have taken 10 wickets and lost would be Harbi vs Australia in 04/05(i think 6 in ecah innings), Murali vs England in 06 at Edgbaston(or 07)...

Maybe even Jason Krejza 13 wickets on debut was the best in terms of figures, who knows

Apparently having looked up, the best statistics for a bowler in a non winning effort was the recently deceased Alec Bedser, who took 14/99 in a match at trent bridge!
